Trying out the new drawing app - Art Academy on the Wii U and its pretty good fun to! The software is actually only half finished but I am glad they released it early rather than wait. Only pencils, pastels and coloured pencils to play with at the moment but it does a suprisingly good job with the small range of tools it offers. Only about £3 as well so not bad price wise if you want to mess around without getting a tablet for your pc.

Here is my third picture in progress, a Victorian Bat Gentleman.....

More to follow. Eventually.

Yep it works fine, but it is simple at the moment. no layers or anything fancy. and the eraser tool is quite chunky even using the decent zoom (that face for example can fill the whole screen of the gamepad and not lose high resolution). The pics can be uploaded and then access your nintendo account on the pc to retrieve them to the hard drive. I will create a seperate background picture and then take it into Photoshop.

This was just a messing about doodle really so I am pleased with how it came out. Need to bring the goggles down a little.

My Giant character. Inspired by the Ogre of Gormley keep from A flight of Dragons. Started off as a quick sketch, turned into a full picture. Stubble took a while to highlight and draw!!

Kewl- Y'know, they make brush stylus-es, and I've always wondered what you could use them on. It seems like this app would be a good thing to use with them.. But I have enough art materials as it is- dunno if I'd be ready to stock up on pixel ones as well.

Bit more progress with Thor all finished. Time to work the background, and I hate doing backgrounds....there will be more lightning to put in though which is fun to do.

Amazing work.

Thanks mate, but I am still a long way off awesome, still learning the ropes. concentrating on comic book kind of style to keep it simple for the moment. Teaching yourself can be tough going, especially when I think of all the stuff to do after portraits....figures, dynamic movement, landscapes, costume/armour, special effects....fantasy art is a big bag !of subjects to study!! I think thats why I gave up such a long time ago to have a go at mini painting...most of the work was done for you. Just slap colour on!

I really like the orc bust by Figone that Avicenna painted a while back, so I started to paint it on the Wii U. Here is some progress. I have done some more on it, but still a way to go. Should be done by Sunday I reckon...

Thanks STefan!!! Hopefully some of this will translate across to my mini painting!! Especially NMM and light sourcing!!! I have been so busy in Newquay, you know drinking cider and lazing on the beach, that no mini work got done!!

And hahaha never thought about 666 sounds cool to me!! Now to hold that position......
