Will simple green also dissolve the super glue on plastic models?

have some chaos warriors I want to strip and redo to a higher standard.

I read here simple green will get rid of paint from plastic models...will it also dissolve the glue though?

Do I use pure simple green or dilute it with water?

When I soak my models in pure Simple Green - generally the arms falls off and they come apart after a week long soak.

I too have found that any super glue joins fall apart after a week or so. Course I use crap super glue. Any of the plastics that have been done with actual liquid plastic cement remain strong, as do any two part epoxy joins I\'ve done. Green stuff also seemed unaffected.

It really is the miracle cure for the early 90\'s \"red\" phase of my GW minis.

i use mister muscle oven cleaner it works great for me never had a problem

How does the oven cleaner work? Do you just plop the figs in and soak? Does it disolve plastic?

i put the fig in something you can seal air tight i use a plastic tub i swiped of the wife put some of the oven cleaner in with the mini and leave if for a couple of hours, the time depends on how much paint is on the fig take it out get an old tooth brush and scrub in hot water if its not all come of i just repeat

no offense but I believe the main reason people use simple green over pine sol to begin with is the fact that it is non-toxic. Oven cleaner is highly toxic and I would not recommend it to people that have any sort of respitory problems, also please keep in mind with any of these items, please work where you can open windows for ventilation

I use simple green on my plastic models, I use probabily 85% simple green 15% water - pretty much just enough water to top off my container.

I let the models soak between 5-7 days (usually throughout the work week) and simply bring them to the sink when they are done and take the sink hose on them, the water blasts off any paint (please if you do this use a sink basket so the paint doesnt go directly down the drain) I notice that the glue joints usually do end up coming off, however when I strip models I go back to the basics anyway.

You can also use a cheap toothbrush to help peal the paint away in hard to reach places.

When I\'ve used Simple Green it would never get the model totally clean after a weeks soak. I don\'t have kids in the house and don\'t leave my models where the pets can get at them, so it\'s not a problem for me to use a de-greasing agent such as Castrol Superclean in a glass bowl with a lid.

I liked castrol superclean also, it works good too. I guess it is all personal choice and availability

the chaos warriors have soaked for 6 days in simplegreen (1 container full of simple green, into an old yogurt container...10 chaos warriors dropped in).... paint comes off with hard rubbing but superglue doesn\'t seem bothered

Maybe I\'ll buy that castrol stuff....

Really any works, I grab the cheapy stuff from the dollar store, It is kind of odd but those cheapy brands seem to work the best on this sort of stuff... maybe because they have so many chemicals in them

simple green seems to get paint off ok...not put them into pure oven cleaner (easy off or something like that)..will let them sit outside on driveway for 3 hours or so ..then douse with water and see what happens

So... did you melt any lizards yet I did an oops and put some plastic skinks in the pine sol can ... OOPS I got some interesting terrain pieces now lol
