Will this cut the mustard?

Yo,

Just read a few of the posts on airbrushes on here and had a sniff around on the net and was wondering if i could get some opinions on this,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mini-Airbrush-Compressor-Kit-AS18-2/dp/B004Y4J252/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Now the brush included is prob less than fantastic but I plan on picking up a H&S or something similar and just hang onto the other as a spare. Would the compressor be ok though or will i end up replacing it after 5 mins? Seemed to get a few decent reviews from people and the bundle is cheap enough that if i really like using the airbrush then i can punt it off and upgrade further down the line.

Thanks

SPG

You're going to get a few opinions on that one ;) It's a fairly generic brand compressor and quite a few places rebrand it their own.

Some people have had this compressor and ended up sending 3 back because they broke - however I've had one like this (with tank) and not had any issues with it at all. Had it for 3 ~ 4 years and regularly used it for very long sessions (2+ hours) without any problems although it does get really hot! My brother has also got one and it's been fine (though doesn't get quite the amount of abuse mine does).

Check out: http://www.everythingairbrush.com/acatalog/AS_Series.html as they do a wider range - look to around half way down the page and you'll see ones with a pressure tank - it's worth the extra money and will make your compressor last a lot longer.

I think this would work better for cutting the mustard:

An airbrush is for painting, silly! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sorry. Couldn't help myself! :sinister:

HAHA I laughed so hard my sides split! (Hard to convey sarcasm over the net isn't it).
Thanks for the input :p At least the knife is a whole lot cheaper so saves me a few quid.

Do you yanks have the saying "cut the mustard"?

We sure do. I think our expression "Doesn't cut it" stemmed from "cut the mustard", but this is just pure speculation on my part. I am in a particularly lazy mood today where even google is just too much darned effort!

Thanks Rune. Out of curiosity which of them would you go for?

Sorry about the delay I tend not to be about much here over the weekends. Out of that lot, I've got the "AB-AS186 Mini Piston type "0n-demand" compressor with receiver for Airbrushing" and pretty happy with it. Many of the higher model versions are all about higher pressure and I can't imagine anyone using 80psi for a miniature!
