William T's 54mm and above!

Hey guys, I've been real busy with commissions lately so my personal work has fallen by the wayside. But the past few days I was able to spend picking the brain of Julio Cabos and learning from him. So with that in mind, I decided to dedicate a thread to working on busts and 54mm and above miniatures, which is something I've always enjoyed but never get to do! :)
So my first "finished" bust is from Young Miniatures.

He's finished for the show this weekend, but I'll be going back and working on some more parts later this next week. The only part I'm truly enjoying right now is the face! lol

But while sitting in Julio's class we were working on "The Looter"
Here is my version.

I'm really happy with him so far! I'll be making him the next miniature on my list to finish as well!
C&C appreciated guys!
Have a good night!

Thanks guys appreciate the support! :) I happily left this weekend with 4 bronze medals for each of my entries! :)

Good to finally meet you in person Milosh! Your stuff was phenomenal this weekend!

I've got a few commission pieces to finish up this week and then it's onto finishing the Looter for Reapercon.
TryanGST, you definitely should! I love the large scale stuff and busts are just awesome to paint!

Thanks mate! :) I just finished up one of the commissioned pieces pending client approval. I'll finish the other one tomorrow so I can work on these busts! :)

Very nice stuff. I especially like your start on the looter. As someone who paints mostly 54mm+ figures too, it's nice to see more of that on this forum! Keep it up!

Hey thanks for the encouragement Bailey! I haven't worked on much stuff like him, but I am really loving the large scale stuff and historicals! :)
Right now time is being consumed by commission work on several small pieces though! haha I have 4 Warmachine Characters on the desk, a Knight, 30 Nurgle Marines, and some Terminators. That doesn't include the samples I have of the Minx Studio Kickstarter Fantasy RPG Miniatures or a buttload of Confrontation models I have!

You have a lot on your table sir, and you do paint some very nice figures here. Will keep an eye on this thread.

Hey guys, sorry it has been a while since I updated the page, haven't been working on anything worth showing though!
Until now!

Making good progress on this guy since I started him Sunday. Plan to wrap him up by Tuesday afternoon so I can keep putting out more pieces for this weekends show!

Nice, that armor looks great. The split color scheme and the weathering are both excellent. One question though, why are you doing the chipping on the cape? It should be cloth but that makes it look like it's the same material as the armor. Some dirt and pigments would look nice but the current weathering doesn't make much sense to me. Still, he's shaping up to be a really cool figure.

Hey thanks for the feedback Bailey! I was intending for it to be like tears and holes in the fabric. Unfortunately at this stage it isn't something I have the time to go back and rework. I painted his face today and finished the arms. Now it's just a backpack and base.

Cheers Bailey! :)
Once he's completed I'll try to get a picture that doesn't have all the nuances in the face washed out!
I have to get my car in the shop today and am teaching a class on painting metallics tonight so I'm on a time crunch which I hate!

Haha I needed a break from 54mm for this con! ;)
Didn't do to badly, left the weekend with two first place plaques, and two second place medals!

I painted the Death Company Dreadnought while in the hotel room Saturday!

Bit of a rushed job and some aspects are still unfinished, so I'm very happy with the Second place! It lost to the mini that won best in show.

Then I also finished and entered the Dark Son who took First in Sci-Fi Single.
