Winged Vampire Lord WIP C&C

Hello everybody. I am currently working on a Winged Vampire Lord from the Vampire Counts army.
Here are a couple of pictures of its wing and cloak. I have tried to pull a wet blending for both of these. Colour of the wing is closer to what appears on the third image.
What do you think of the result up to this point? Anything to improve on these two? I know pics are not the best I could get.

I would say thats a great start!
but I think it could do with some deeper shades on the wings, as they appear to be quit "flat" on the pictures
Also the blending on the cloak could be smoother, by that i mean that the transition between the 2 colors could be beter, for me they aren't quit right as they are now.
hope this helps :)

Yes I would agree that glazes of darker and darker tones on the red portion of the wings would be perfect. Great start :D

morning and thank you all for your comments. I see what you mean. I will need to smooth the transition on the cloak for sure. The shade of the wing is deeper in reality but I will give it some glazes to deepen the hue a bit more.

Here I come again with better pictures to be honest :) (what a difference a photobox and natural light do on the pictures taken!! just look at the cloak..) I have only worked on the wing of the vampire; no changes whatsoever yet on the cloak. I did some layering with darker shades in order to bring some depth on the surface of it. What do you think? I believe that it looks fine at this point, but I want your critique on this.
Second thing is I am not sure what colour his armour will be. I am thinking of going on with a red armour, but I am considering a green one as well. Do you think it is going to work out? I have started working on its base.It is going to be based on a wooden display base and the mini is going to be removable for gaming purposes.. Steps, sewers etc are on my mind.

Hi Tin Bucket.

The new shading seems to have worked out excellent, what I think you now need is just some final highlights of the win like the very top edge and the bottom of those tears! A dark green should work nicely with him although I am not sure how well it would go with the purple cape so you might have to paint a tester piece of armour first.

tin,

i feel the purple cloak is not working. the pinks and reds of the wing make the purple cloak just be more of a glaring eye sore. the blending while good on the cloak would be even better if you went with a red. a deep dark red, with only small highlights to push the rest of the piece. your wing is looking great though, and i would start now by adding purple veins and washing them back into the piece. also dont be afraid to blend the top of the wing up to almost pure white in some areas. hope all this helps and i will be watching this thread with interest.

Here is a small update on the skin of the vampire. What do you think? It has been shaded and highlighted. I do not know if I need to get on with more extreme shading and highlighting. Any thoughts?

The wings look much better now, as sugested before i also think it would look great if you try and let some veins pop.
For the skin I think it needs some more definition, its quite flat now.
I would say to shade it first and then see if you need to highlight it a bit more, and maybe then use more edge highlighting.

Hi Tin-Bucket
The wing looks good so far, the blending of the color is a little harsh but it is coming along very well...
The cape looks perfect... can't wait to see the skin tone completed.

Hello everybody and thank you for your comments. Skin looked too pale. This has been a hectic week in general, and I managed just to get the skin tones shaded and highlighted and basecoat the armour. The armour was undercoated with a mix of 1:1 gory red and scurf green which led to a deep black-green colour and then basecoated with scurf green. I am to give it a wash with black-green ink (not done yet in the pics) to deepen the colour and move on from that part. enjoy the pics

I like the wing, I think a little lighter highlight on the upper regions, and I am going to have to agree that the purple cape is just not working with it.
