Winter, Summer, Spring and Fall

Maybe I\'m alone in this sort of thing, but I thought it might be helpful for some other painters as well, when I found it.

When people talk about fashions, they talk about whether a person is a \'summer\' or a \'fall\' colour person, and this, for the longest time, baffled me completely. Then I learned that they were referring to skin-tones, and what colours would suit their complexions.

And that got me to thinking about painting, and how I usually do the flesh on a mini, first. Matching colours to that fleshtone that I painted didn\'t always look quite right, so I started trying to find a way to see what colours worked with what.

Colour wheels didn\'t seem to help me with this particular issue, because I couldn\'t find flesh-tones in them with anything like accuracy. So I started hunting fashion web-sites for any kind of information on the terms, and found this one:

I haven\'t actually started experimenting with it, yet, but I think it might help me, and thought I\'d share it with anyone else that was similarly baffled. It has some good descriptions of what each \'season\' is like as a skin-tone, and then explains roughly what colours will work with them.

Thanks barstool, I like the link, helps to get an idea of which colors o use best for the mood/feeling I get on the mini! It\'s got me thinking rightnow of a trouble mini I\'ve been struggling with! I think I\'ll go attack it now!

Well, it\'s never baffled me too much, benefits of being raised with just me, my mother and sister, I suppose. But that\'s a nice reference and I\'ve added it to the ol\' fav\'s folder. I usually don\'t think much about skin tones, or the subtle hints of colours found within. It might be a good idea to start doing so.

Thanks BSP.

Cheers
