Hey Guys,

I'm new to posting anything in the forums. Been painting mini's for about a year now. Just wanted to show off a couple minis I'm working on.

The first one is a friendly Hedge Witch from Red Box Minis. She was a lot of fun to paint.

I still need to finish her off--add some color to her face and do some detail work, along with the base.

My next model is a friendly wicked witch for Halloween. I just started her. It's the first time I attempted to work with black--although I didn't use black to get the black. I used a dark blue and a deep red. I'm still blocking out the colors.

Thanks Ten Ball. I worked on my witch lady a little more. I'm a slow painter, a really slow painter. I spend more time staring at a mini than painting it.

I don't know where I'm going with this figure. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

After I finish up this coat, I'm going to hit it with a coat of gloss before working in my first round of highlights and shades. I need to fix up her eyes too.

Hi, the photos are a bit large so you might want to scale them down a little.
There seems to be a slight grain to your paint, this might be from the primer or the actual paint itself? Might help if you built up the layers over several thinned out coats.

I took the photos through an optivisor lense from my phone. I retook the photos. The grit is probably dust and uneven paint. I had to use anti-shine for her dress because it looked like leather. I'm doing a lot of practice on getting smooth coats--and a long way to go. But I'll thin out my paints a little more and see how I do.

Maybe I'll get this done! I added an arm, wand and a tree. My main goal was to complete a mini (I have many that are not completed). My second goal was to push for better results. For me, I think I did a good job--since I'm all amateur about painting.

So I decided to change it up a bit and started working on my mouse witch. I don't mean to keep pounding you with purple and pink, but this one is for my niece. I've thinned out my paint a bit more.

I'm going to focus on getting a smooth paint job, working highlights and shadows. I also have a mummy mouse for my nephew, and if I have the time a Halloween Sophie. I'm giving myself an October 5th deadline. =^/

I've been trolling everyone's work and there's mad talent out there. It's good to see the progression and how other's work on their minis. I was learning from the Darksword DVD's, and I've got to get back to that (I vested in 2 Darksword KS, so I have a lot to work on). I also have a dvd by Jeremie Teboul, but I haven't checked that out yet. But posting up here a couple times a week can keep me accountable.

I'm winging this mouse. I want deepen the colors a little bit, so she looks a little less like cotton candy. I have to figure out the eyes. Will continue to practice the basics.

I know it looks cheesy (pardon the pun), but this is my concept. My other witch is stewing for a few days. I needed to give her distance. I still have to install the tail.

Worked a little basing into my Autumn Witch. I plan on turning the tree from green to red and brown. I putting off my last round of highlights/shadows on her blouse/corset and on her skin. I want to bring out her collarbone and fix up her complexion.

I painted this miniature last year, so I'm painting it again to see if I made any progress. (Using the Jessica Rich DS tutorial of Shea) I'm trying to pull off a linen white--now I understand why white is tricky to paint. It needs to be balanced or else it fails to read as white.

I don't like her face. She has a unibrow and I'll need to soften that up. But I think I made some progress over a year!

I wanted to peel open a blister that came with the last Darksword -- DiTerlizzi Kickstarter. These characters are pretty cool. Painted 1st basecoat on dwarf (He'll be this weeks quick paint challenge). He's holding a lamp. The two other guys came in the same blister. One's an herbalist and the other's an oarsman with his sidekick. Jim from DS does a great job with these KS. Really just wanted to show off some of the minis--the sculpts are cool.

Started this Rogue a couple days ago. Can't believe I got this far. Still needs a lot of work--especially the skin and the leather look. Also did a little work on the Dwarf. I'm still trying to decide what color his beard should be.

I was wondering if my leather looks convincing. I know it's difficult to tell with my phone photos, especially when I upload them--I start seeing all the mistakes.

I was also wondering if I should make the highlights more centered (or sharp), or leave it a little diffused? If that makes sense.

Theres a nice red in the the leather, by adding small amounts of leather brown to the mix will be good for highlights.

Photos are massive, scale them down a little

Hey ten ball, awesome call for adding the leather brown. I need to work her right leg (our left) a little better. I hope this is what you meant when you said to scale the photo down. I need to get a cheap camera look into the photography forums.

Following along with the the Darksword tutorials has taught me a lot. There's still a lot to practice to be had.
