WIP - Emperor\'s Children Army

After something like a 15 year break (seriously) I\'ve started to get back in to painting, sculpting and playing for Warhammer 40k. Being more than a little rusty I\'m hoping for feedback and ideas as I start putting together a new Emperor\'s Children army.

I have included here, for the first post, the current images of the Chaos Lord from various angles with some questions for folks:

Model is equipped with the \"Lash of Torment\" and a Sonic Blaster. I included the Doom Siren head on the bike so I wouldn\'t have to deal with dual weapons. Not sure I like it yet so looking for feedback on that for starters.

I had a lot of fun modeling the Lash but I\'m a little stuck on color options as the whole model is, of course, going far in to the realm of pink... so a big pink Lash of Torment is going to get a bit lost.

As an aside, the EC face on the chest will wind up the same pink as the rest of the model (this is all post ink pre-highlight). I intend to do the wings in gold highlights to match the EC shoulder (also not finished) and Slaanesh icons sculpted to the body armor (both legs and left hand).

Any feedback is welcome - especially before I drop a ton of hours in to the project only to decide it\'s time to strip it...

Next up: 3 of 4 Aspiring Champions

Emperor\'s Children - Aspiring Champions WIP

I have four squads in the 1850 army list and plan to do a different color scheme for each - largely so I can play with color schemes.

Only the purple/gold model has the backpack at this point. The others just arrived and I haven\'t had an opportunity to paint them yet.

Not a lot of detail came through on these shots and if people are interested I can get some additional angles up. The white/pink model, for instance, has flames on the glove and some detail on the right pauldron banner.

The squads they\'re with will reflect minor variarions on the color scheme. The white/pink, for instance, may include some pink armor and white trim. Haven\'t touched the squads yet...

Feedback and input will be greatly appreciated.

I think you should pick a color scheme and stick to it. Having all them doods different colors doesnt help with unit cohesion. If you selected say black pink and white and painted all your minis in combination of these then it will tie all the minis together. As for the whip of the bike dood just paint it black.

I have considered sticking to just one of the four color schemes I plan on using -- but with 30 marines on the table (12/6/6/6) I wanted to have a bit more fun painting them.

Three of the four also share the same colors in different applications. Only the 12 man squad, purple/gold, stands apart. The other three are combinations of black/pink/white. I have simply rotated which is the primary color and which the trim and accents.

As to painting the whip black I may give that a shot. If it doesn\'t turn out it\'s easy to paint over and I haven\'t used a lot of black, except to accent, on this one.

Thanks!

Another question for folks on the Chaos Lord - I\'d planned on doing a combination of pink and metal tones, which you can see started on the front view, but now I\'m having second thoughts. I\'m debating either a combination of pink and blue or a variety of colors.

Anyone have input for me?

Chaos Lord - Update 1

I changed the wings no the bike from gold to purple/pink highlights - changed the wing trim to black to better unify it with the trim below.

Armour trim changed from gold to pink to better unify the overall image... although now I see how much I need to clean up rough edges on the Slaanesh icons I added.

Blue faces added to EC backpack to provide a little more colour - still not sure how I feel about it.

Feedback welcome, of course.

good idea......about the diff colors...

maybe you could give the squads different vices of excess...

like pleasure squad and drug squad...

it sounds dumb, but think about it......

you could have like roman numerals on their arms for which sin they are....

sculpt some neekidness....
make track marks bloody noses.....
gluttony could be fat nugle marines painted all fleshy....

ect ect....
that would effin rule

i was going to do a emperor\'s children army but i hate the idea of sonic weapons...

i just do....

Although my camera isn\'t all that spectacular I finally maneged to get a shot of the highlighting on the purple/gold squad. This is the first model (obviously incomplete) and my paint test for the group.

The blue on the face piping has been inked but not the rest of it. Gold has been highlighted but not inked.

I have finally figured out what I\'m not happy with - the metalics. I really want to use gold and purple but I\'m really disappointed with how dark the metalic colours are turning out.

I\'ve seen quite a few pieces where the gold was painted without using any metalic paint - does anyone have a link to a how-to?
