WIP Formor - Big pic!

This is one of the new Rackham formors i\'m working on right now. I am proud of the fact i\'m starting to get the hang of layering, and that i\'m actually thinking about colour schemes (I used to blob all different ones on my minis).
But I need some input now:

- My Human Drunes are all \"warm\" (browns, reds, dash of purple).
- I decided to do the demonic Drunes (ie. formors) \"cold\" (blues, whites, etc...)
- The only \"warm\" on the demons is the hair.
- Is this a good idea to try and represent their otherworldly nature? Or does this make the army incoherent?

Those are my main concerns :) not the paintjob :D

Well, if you have a look at the Drunes history, you see they live in caves, so maybe you could try to make the skin a bit translucid, and use pale colours, like the fish you see in deep oceans or in caves...

Otherwise I find it a good idea to have a different colour scheme for human and non-human minis.

Go drunes ! (their history is one of the best in Rackham, IMO)

Nice, I like the red hair with blue skin. The layering looks a bit rough, but it may be because of the hugely oversized pic (I\'ve never tried taking that bic a photo of one of my own minis). Nice gold too, is it alcohol-based ? Oh and look, you have a red dod on his cheek, you should correct that.

Aaanyway, you DID say your concern wasn\'t the painting (sorry, I get taken away sometimes).
Yes, I think your idea is a good one. :innocent:

Wow!! that\'s a good pair of eyes you got there, it took me some time to find it, and that was already knowing it was there.
The color choice looks good to me, the one thing I would change would be the eye. it just dosn\'t look right that way. Maybe you should try to put the red dot in the middle of white in stead of black, it might look better that way, and I think it would fit better with the fact that they come from caves. Then again that\'s just me
:innocent::D
Good luck with the rest of it.

Hey Bob Marley (read the comic today):

I think it would be cool if you tried to make it look like the hair was fire. It\'s easy, you just have to put the lighter colors (white, yellow) towards the inside, and the other red and oranges towards the end of the hair.. Maybe even you could try on minature lightsource?
He kinda looks like a Smurf Berserker right now.... :p

Hair that looks like fire...

Formor uses l\'Oréal colour #1256, \"fiery hair\", because it\'s worth it

Will do this too, give them an even more outworldish look.

It\'s rough because i\'m still learning layering, but i\'m getting there :)
Thanks, didn\'t saw the dot, gotta correct that.
The gold is vallejo shining gold, several washes of black ink over it makes it dirty, demons and clean gold don\'t mix really (except slaaneshi ones ;))

Hmmmm.....nice Formors <chomp> <chomp>

Hey Tuubje your Formor is looking great! I think the layering is looking good, especially as you are just starting to get the hang of it, as you say :D

I don\'t think many minis would stand up to a real close-up shot like that - I know mine wouldn\'t. If you look at the more realistic sized pic, the shading looks good :flip:

Re the colour scheme - I like the idea of blues - as FrenchKid said - maybe highlight further to show them paler if they spend most of their time underground or in caves ??? The red hair is really striking and I think Chrispy\'s idea of \'flaming red\' hair would be cool.

A great job dear! lol

Eh, maybe it\'s my screen settings, or my eye-for-unflattering-details mutant-power, but it\'s the very first thing I saw. :D

Why U4-Welcome saw the red spot. Explanation N°1

Take a look at Mr Welcome\'s avatar.
...
Done?
Ok, so now you can suppose that what he saw was actually some of his own blood on his screen, because of bumping his head so much on his keyboard. Luckily Mr Tuubje\'s mini happened to have a red spot. But it\'s all coincidence.

I don\'t see any other explanation so far.
