WIP - FW Keeper of Secrets - how to hilite/shade the glazes areas

I noticed now the photos need to be white balanced :( oh well. They are too yellow.

The droplets, I will try and hide with freehand pattern later.

Main question is, how to hilight/shade the areas where the glazes are (the turquoise on the right butt cheek, the red on the left, the purple/pink down the leg, etc?

I think I should have set some tones on the model before, but I didn\'t. Can Ijust mix some lighter colours into turqiouse for example, and then glaze over smaller areas in that colour region?

There is a star/space pattern and freehand faces in the base, which I need to do some more work on; i had to rip apart a section of the base, to get her to fit into it.

The spots around the neck/right shoulder are not errors though; I wanted a pattern like Dax had in DS9.

I noticed that the freehand lady onthe left leg, the tattoo on that freehand image is a bit rough. I will correct it :)

in regards to your question mate, yep, you can highlight with glazes as well.

makes it realy easy for little tweeks (especialy on super sized jobbers like that)

looking forward to seeing that baby finished :)

I like it so far! You can definetly hilight with glazes, just keep them super diluted (moreso than shades) as it needs to be particularily smooth where light hits and the viewer\'s eyes will first stare at. The veins I like but they need to be subdued into the skin much more, to do that, glaze and glaze again with flesh tones to gradually bury them beneath the top layers of skin color. The girl tatoo on the leg does not stand out so well, you need to differentiate the skintone color of the tatoo vs actual leg more, perhaps with darker outlines.

Finally, the stars on the base need to be a bit smoother, they look a bit too much like painted on stars at the moment.

Keep up the good work!

Can\'t say anything Chris or Vincent didn\'t cover, except that this is looking to be one of your best if all goes well from here on (and why wouldn\'t it?). :)

Will you be able to make it to the Team Toronto meetup on the 22st?

In general I would suggest you shade and highlight before starting with the glazes. Then you can add additional shading and highlighting by glazing, but you wouldn\'t need to do all of it by time-consuming glazing. But, seeing as you have gotten this far already, there\'s no other way than to use glazing. And, like Vincent said, highlighting must be done with extreme care, especially on a large piece like this.

Nice work, so far, Sanjay! I look forward to seeing the final result. :)

It\'s at Dragomir\'s shop. He has a room up above where there are painting tables and the likes. I can confirm that Starks333 (Alex), Alexei (Kristen), Dragomir, Legacy40k (Andrew Wigg), Hoju (Johnathon Ho), Rinksi (Cam Smith) will make it for the time being and we\'d love for you to come :)
