Okay, so for a change I decided to use my Water Soluble Oils on a piece, and since the Hunter of Darkness 1 has a nice long flowing coat, I thought what the heck:
]
If that don\'t work, click here, if that don\'t work, I\'m screwed...
Anyhow, as you can se it\'s still glossy and not even close to done. However, I\'ve managed to do the cape, buttons, hat, and boots in all oils. So far, it\'s been fighting some things, but I\'ve learned alot:
-Always underpaint anyhting for Oils
-Layering does not work as fast
-Blending is better, but paint is thick
I kinda knew these things, but even as an artist, I\'ve shied away from oils and was just being lazy.. Blending might be better if I used my W&N but I just got them and I\'m not about to loose them to bits of oil paint stuck in the ferrule.
All paints are W&N, though.. The cape it a mix of Burnt Umber/Indian Red, the highlight was done by addinf white, and the shadows are Burnt Umber on the Cape. The boots are just Burnt Umber with the highlights of Burnt Umber/ Indian Red/White mix. I did manage to try and make it more \"dirty\" while I was at it, so I used Ivory Black as mud, with some Yellow Ochre thrown in for good measure. I\'m drying for subdued colors, but it\'s looking a little warm right now.
So what do you guys think?
