I\'ve started a new project yesterday, just a single LotR miniature, Imrahil.
Since I don\'t really seem to get better, I\'m going to share the painting proces with you.

I have never payed a lot of attention to colour choise, or texture, for example. I hope that I can get advice from you, and improve my skills. I want this to be my best mini ever!

I\'ve only done the face so far. After looking at the pictures, I\'m not 100% satisfied yet.

Please let me know anything that should be done better :)

Thanks, no critism?

I\'m still not 100% satisfied, but it\'s already better then at the previous photo\'s. Sorry for the poor lightning, (it\'s midnight here).

Any comments welcome! :)

I agree with the others - the face looks great. His mouth looks a bit \"pitch black\", though. I am not familiar with this mini, but does it have teeth or tongue? You might consider a touch of red or ivory to simulate the tongue or teeth. Leaving it as it is would also be fine.

It looks very good, maybe a final highlighting at the top parts of the face like nose, face front and cheekbones. And if you can paint two white small points in the pupils it will be more expressive, when I tried to do it in a gw scale I found it impossible, but maybe you can.

Granddad!
hi TML
looks like you\'ve got everything more or less in the correct place, however if the first pics are closer to real life, what YOU see when you\'re painting, he\'s a bit too pink
what colors are you using for your flesh?

here\'s a version I did of him, it\'s not a great pic but you may find it useful

Thanks for these usefull comments!

I\'ve done some final highlighting and glazing on the face, and I will, (as TheCadian says) move on to other parts now. After completing the rest, I\'ll see what the face looks like with the complete miniature done.

@ Mickc22
Those first pics came out a little strange. On the seccond pics, the light may not have been perfect, but the colour is more to the true colour. I used mainly Scorched Brown, Dwarf Flesh and Elf Flesh.

Thanks for sharing your own Imrahil, tha may be a big help for the NMM, (I think I\'m going to need a lot of help with that... :p)

Here\'s the face again, I\'m almost completely satisfied. Now I\'m going to paint the hair, and his white skirt.

Since I might be doing some minor corrections at the end, advice is still more then welcome :)

I hope the face is alright, (nobody posted a comment anymore about the final result).
If something\'s wrong with it, just let me know.

I finished a piece of his white clothes. I\'m very happy with it!

Comments, welcome!! :)

Since this is my Golden Demon entrance for Germany this year, (LotR category) I have to finish it before the end of the week. So the result will be posted soon! With some wips between it of course.

Let me know what you think about it :)

P.S. Tips about how to do the grey NMM on his armour, would be very much appreciated!

You paint better then me. But here are a few tips that might help you, they are not from me buut mostly stolen from jeremie.
Use some scab red under the cheekbone on the tip of the nose and on the lips. It\'ll give some life to the face. (Upcoming article might help). In the shadows use some blue or green, they are cool color that will give more intensity to the paint then just black but will retain the deepness needed for a shad color. Small dot of white can be applied in the pupile to render light reflection and give more life to the face make sure it\'s on the opposit side the where the light is coming from.
On more personal note, I think the shadow under the nose might be a touch dark, might just be the pic though.
Goood luck with the mini :)

Thanks frenchkid! I\'m afraid the article won\'t be ready on time to be still of use to me on this mini. But I\'ll definatly read it! You always pic good articles to translate :)

I guess the previous pictures were not good enough to give a good judgement (since there were hardly any replies). So I took some pictures in daylight :)

And I still could use help on the NMM, and what to do with the 25 mm base :)

the article I was thinking of is now up ;) It as a nice part on the face of the mini.
And in the next couple of days I\'ll have the one on Yarry up too, that one is almost exclussively on the face so it should give you some help too. :)
The cap looks pretty good, but I must say the pic still don\'t look great lighting wise.
