WIP marines, tips needed

Right, here are two chaos marines I\'m still working on. A big problem for me is I\'m not very good at highlighting flat panels, like in this case the terminators armour.

Do I put highlights at the top of the armour where the light would catch, at the edges, the centre? Edging highlight is okay, but some parts of the armour are too large and require more highlighting.

Also, yes I do know the barrels of the gun haven\'t been painted yet.

This one needs more work around on the sword and around the legs.

I actually used a tutorial from this site for the helmet. Never done glowing eyes type painting before, so I like it, a lot.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: this might be in the wrong forum, sorry if it is.

I also find flat panels hard.
from the looks of your pics you need to mix your paints to get gradual highlights, rather than highlight straight from the paint pot.

for example, you\'ve highlighted a very light grey onto black, where i think you want to be mixing the two colours to get a much less bright highlight - make sense?

I generally highlight the edges, on spacemarines.

I see what you mean, but for black, I\'ve tried adding blue and that sometimes works, but it\'s difficult to keep it looking black, so I\'ll edge black. It\'s more for colours and such, like the pink.
