WIP Night Goblin, aka. my study break!

Hello everybody, thought I\'d share my current distraction/paint project. He painted up remarkably fast so far, and is nearly finished. No more than 4-5 hours so far, probably less actually. Hopefully I\'ll get a chance to finish him up by the end of the week.

He\'s pretty much my tribute to Jakob Neilsen gobbos... the only real difference being the more subtle black hilighting. I might darken it up a tiny bit once I find my black ink... *grumbles*

He\'ll get the skulls, mushrooms on the base, and the swords done as soon as I get a chance The gold needs a quick glaze as well, in case anyone was thinking it\'s a bit too bright right now.

Looking good there. Love the overall tone of the mini especially the skin (great nose!). Just a little bit of smoothing out on the black robes needed I think but don\'t darken them too much. Also, I really like the metal on the swords so I would advise not to try to do too much to that area either.

you have done it fine justice with the paint job,

I agree with the comment about the swords, they look cool, i wouldnt change them!

And the green patina on the chest piece smacks of ogres, thats on mean goblin taking out ogres like that !!!

nice stuff I like the hood.. it gives a special feeling when you look at it from a certain distance... the rust on the stomach plate is nice aswell...

Everybody\'s been giving such amazing feedback for the swords... they\'re just drybrushed Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal

I guess I\'ll think about keeping them relatively rust-free to separate them from the armor a little bit.

By the way, I totally love the belly plate on this sculpt, he does look like a mini-Ogre!

hehe sometimes the best techniques are the simplest ones!
Nice model there, i really like the overall gritty atmosphere to it.

Looks good, personaly I\'d go with a little corrossion on the baldes. great skin tones.

Thanks, the skintones were looking pretty iffy until they were completely finished.

For those interested:
-Scorched Brown shading
-Scorched Brown/Dark Angels/Goblin Green basecoat
-Above with more Goblin mixed in (a couple layers)
-Mixed in Rotting Flesh (for a few layers)
-Rotting Flesh

Looked pretty bad until the last hilight went on. I was getting worried

The pink nose was a glaze of red and purple inks, just like Jakob says. I love that nose

My secret is ripping off Jakob Neilsen, as I\'ve said before This is really the first time I\'ve really seriously tried for a dirty/rusted look before. I\'ve done the tinted green or blue stuff before on 40k figures though. It\'s pretty much the same technique but with orange/brown/black glazing.

Truth to tell I like every thing except the swords. I think your other metals look so much better. The mini is really great I love the skin tones. Is there a voting link.

I agree with ogrebane, the paint looks much thicker on the swords, and it is to a lesser standard than the rest of him.

If the mini were mine, i would add a few brown/green washes to define the details a bit more and also a bit of weathering on the chipped areas.

Love those skintones! this is a great mini!!!
