Pete, I log onto cool mini and the first thing I see is a big pink cat starting at me! I like very much :D I have left a comment. I love the cat and alys in general, although I think her highlights at he front of her hair are a bit stark (bad hair dresser!). Also I dont know if it is the view, but it looks like there is a bit of black on the lower lip of the cheshire cat.

The base is of course, fantastic!

She is a very very very nearly a 9 for me!

a 9 for me, too!

it\'s very original, the base is super-cool (but i may suggest a little darklining around the hearts) and even if the paintjob is not perfect, i think it deserves this rating!

great job pete!

Pupils

Commented. Another 9.

Oh, and as to the description; pupils are black (technically they are clear, opening into the dark interior of the eyeball, but for paint they would be black). It\'s the irises that have the color. The pupil is the tiny spot in the middle of the iris, which would probably never show up on a mini below 54mm scale.

I am going to go one stage further and give you a 10. The freehand on the Queen of Hearts is worth a 9 alone, tie that together with the excellent job made of the mini and it is for me a definate 10.
Excellent.

Thanks for that Vince ;) I should have known better... pupil/iris *chuckles* never mind!

Although to be honest, If someone was far enough away from you that they looked 30mm tall, you probably wouldnt see the whites of their eyes either ;) Nor would you see the exaggerated highlights we all use, and we\'d all be painting like rlobinski :D

:eek:

well i guess it\'s possible to paint eyes with pupils AND iris on a 28/32mm mini:

I know the picture isn\'t the best, it was done before I understood about levels (It looks much better if you adjust them)!!

P.S If you fancy a vote or two on it...have a look in my gallery :D

That really does look great. I plan on starting mine pretty soon, and you have definitly given me some ideas. The color choices are perfect. What colors were used for the stripes on the cat?

Thanks mate!

The dark stripes on the cat are GWs warlcok purple with some Vallejo burnt cadmium red highlighted up with warlock purple plus tentacle pink.

The light stripes are tentacle pink + burnt cadmium red and bleached bone, highlighted by addign white.

The whole cat was then shaded with a thin wash of brown ink and a mix of brown and black ink was used to create the darkest shadows.

Anyway, I have plans for this model... this base is just temporary...

@Avicenna
This one is very good, Peter! I like basically everything about it. I think the hair and the face of the girl is excellent! And the base... very original!

@Fizl
I like that mini a lot. Those eyes are really creepy! How did you do them?

@Avicenna - Sorry, just temporarily hijacking your thread!!

@ Ritual - The eyes I did white to start with, then painted the iris in a light blue. Once I\'d done that I thinned some white ink and added a little pearlescent medium and washed it over the eye really thinly. After I\'d done that I thinned some black paint, prayed to the paint gods then held my breath while I painted the pupil :D I was extremely happy that I got it right first time!!
