Hey Guys,

A further update, i added him to his base and worked on his arm plus sword.

Still need to fix up the chip on the shoulder..

Im now offically fed up with painting this guy! Anyone else get impatient like me with all the small crucial finishing touches?

I get impatient to.

its lokking good but the sword needs work!!!!!!!

because the light sorce is coming from the SIDE and not ABOVE then the highlight/shade is wrong!!!!
you need to highlight at the edge of the sword on the point.
then, blend that in to the shade you have at the moment.
this is because it looks good but the highlights are for if the light sxorce is above or to the top right.

apart from that the gold is really good. and could you tell us all how you do the cloak/cloth???

@catman

The sword and chip i have been putting off! i really need to get motivated ... hmm maybe some redbull and doritos!

The red robes at the front were done as follows (i use Vallejo game colours but i converted it to citadel equivalent for here)

-undercoat white
-base coat Scab Red
-First shadow 50/50 scab red and black (thinned!!) and feathered into creases
-Second shadow only in extremes thinned down black
-first highlight 50/50 and water burnt and blood red feathered.
-Second highlight pure blood red heavily thinned on smaller area than first
-Extreme highlight is heavily thinned bubonic brown then glazed with blood red.

This is a technique i got from kaple.

Hope that helps, happy to give more more details ;)

Very, very nice. Especially given that it was a first go at NMM. The sword needs a bit of reworking to improve the highlights, but it is difficult with such a large blade.

Time to try on a new model, keep us all up to date on how it goes...
