size comparison with gw bike, any advice about who to sit on it dont know if scouts would be able to drive a marine bike also the chapter colours i\'m not sure what chapters would mainly use bikes so any help there would be appreciated

looks good. a little long by comparison - the fuel tank is longer. also the wheel on teh gw sits further back into the mudguard. same could probably be said about the rear wheel (ie brough forward into the mudguard). don\'t want to sound picky but you are doing a great job and i\'m sure you want it to be perfect!

i would have thought a scout could ride a bike. don\'t hold me to that though

i believe white scars use bikes a lot. and there is always the ravenwing

front mud guard

the front wheel sits in tight to the mud guard its not fixed in place as yet i didnt notice when i took the picture i have to finish off a lot of fiddley bits at the rear as yet if you can believe it the back end was a real pain in the rear if you pardon the pun

the bikes finished but for some fine sanding and a light spray with some grey primer which i will leave until i have finished the figure which will now be a scout with sniper rifle

i wouldn\'t go for a scout with a sniper rifle. snipers are generally a bit more subtle and don\'t go racing around in bikes. having said that they tend to wear camo, which isn\'t what any of the beloved astartes wear!

scouts

hey how you doing i know what you mean however the way i see it is the scouts way out advance party ahead of the main troops ,out rider, im going to do it with him sitting astride the bike with a set of binos n the rifle over his lap looking as if he\'s seen something he does\'nt like, \"doe\'s he take a shot or get the hell out\". you get the picture. the length might have something to do with the photoshop i used to edit the pics sorry

Nice start.
Reminds me of my 2006 GD entry
These WIP\'s might help.
BIKE WIP

MARINE WIP

I had the same delema, I ended up doing a Marine. To save time, I converted a SideShow statue but in the end I might as well have scratch-built the Marine. I had to rebuild the legs and arms , rebuild and stretch the torso to bring him to a correct human proportion.

FINISHED PIECE

Can\'t wait to see more progress.

Thanks
In my old age my mind is slipping, it was actually for the 2007 Canadian GD and it took Gold in Large scale .
The Marine is from a series of limited edition statues put out by SideShow I\'d say more than 10 years ago. You can still find them on evil-bay. They were made of polystone, very hard but brittle. The were what you called a 3 up. They were 3 times the height of a regular plastic marine. From the poses, It looked like they just took castings of the masters that GW sculpted to produce the plactic minis.I mentioned that I had to rebuilt the legs, one reason was the leg shattered when I was trying to cut it apart. It was easier to scratch-build the parts than trying to salvage them.
Talk to you later.....Dragomir
