the whole things made from milliput yellow grey, except for the tyres, the wire on the rifle and the barrell of aforementioned rifle is made from kehbhab sticks, epoxy putty\'s easy to work and very forgiving, theres very little you cant do with carving tools an a dremmel

Coming along nicely mate, although I do feel as if he\'s looking at that that power clip as if he doesn\'t know what to do with it...

thats why he\'s got his hand up lol...na he\'s checking the magazine not a power clip i read a little fluff somewhere that the sniper rifles fire a neuro toxin dart inside the laser bolt/beam so i\'ve done a magazine with tiny little bullets in that are difficult to see from the pics but they are there, im going on the principle that the stock contains a power source that he can charge from the back pack or bike or where ever theres a charge port rather than carrying loads of power packs, ex military thinking dont carry more than you have to:beer:

ah it was a while ago. when you had just finished my Terminator. sort of made a passing comment that we could have worked on a leman russ. We laughed due to how big the model would turn out, and that i would never afford it :p

cassar

BALLSCRATCHER
sure that could never happen you\'re made of money, still im game for a laugh what size model are you thinking about

Well the money is a little dry from buying for the army im taking to a tournament to Q-Con in belfast.
But for a laugh lets go mad! How big can you go with milliput before it becomes too heavy and brittle? :p

size matters

i dont really know the answer to that one something like a leman russ you could go as you say \"really mad\" as the weights supported by tracks that basically form the sides as well you could probably go slightly larger than bane blade size then use the tracks from a bane blade to model the ones for the russ if you have any spare in your bits box. any larger than that and i would say you could be too heavey. something that size i could even do detachable side sponsons, front sponson, engine cover and turret though the details on the inside i am totally unfamiliar with. or theres always plasticard for those really big jobs though again new territory for me still want to give it a go then let me know, the scouts almost done all ive to do is the base, painting im going to leave until i can get hold of a decent air brush.:D

Works for me mate! It makes a helluvalot of sense to be able to connect the power to the bike. Hmmm, why not incorporate some mono-/bipod bracket to the handlebar shield so he can rest his rifle on it and fire comfortable?

Also, I read that you also made a terminator... now that wouldn\'t happen to be a large scale one? In proportion to the large marines? Hmmm? :bouncy:

tools

aliengod i would use sculting tools available from most arts n crafts shops plus i actually find that making shaped implements from the milliput itself is as handy as anything. i would form the initial shapes as much as i can whilst the milliput is still pliable then when it hardens i use carving tools for fine detail again arts n crafts stores, for the more robust carving i use a dremmel multi tool with the pen attachement and various cutters also files are handy for doing clean lines the like of bolters that sort of thing, they tend to get bunged up so a stout wire brush comes in handy there, for doing large areas like legs shoulder, pads arms and any other type of large smooth surface i use a bench sander once the desired shape is achieved im afraid its down to elbow grease and the wet n dry sand paper for the final finish any really fine details you add later on, keep cocktail sticks handy the are a god send when doing fine detail other than that its all in the eye hope this helps cheers:beer:

That is awesome thanks! I have trouble shaping milliput because I normally wet my tools to stop them from sticking to the milliput but then the putty gets real slick and difficult to work with.

wetting the tools is a good idea but water has a tendancy to just run off the tools more or less straight away i find that if you use a small amount of washing up liquid in the water it stops the water running off and therefore you dont have to use more and more water and as you say end up with a sludgey mess, its also a good tip for use with the wet n dry sand paper too as too much water can dissolve the fine paper into little black bits, \"i use fairy washing up liquid\" but dont tell anyone.
