cheers meph, they are a little on the rough side at the moment and lack the shoulder straps i have to cut down the thickness of the straps by at least half and smooth the pads edges down, one of the exhaust vents is refusing to co operate at the moment it must be my fourth or fifth attempt at getting the rim attached,im also working on some other bits back box for the rear of the bike, bed rolls, camo cape, truth be told im dreading starting the base.

This thing is absolutely awesome! It screams \"Space Wolves\" at me though. Something very primal about it. Should think about throwing in an axe or something to set it off and you\'re on a pure win!

Can\'t wait to see how this turns out!

ANYONE yelling space wolves randomly gets a huge + in my book! :D
besides, I do think that would be cool. Only thing is that fluff-wise their scouts do not like bikes, they are more to terms with digging Latrina holes beside the enemy generals tent and stuff like that. lol

P.s. I still maintain the opinion that this is one totally groovy kick ass model. :D

Yarr! More indirect peer-pressure to finsih my marine.. :D
Looking good mate, lookin\' gooood.
Personally I wouldn\'t go for Space Wolves, the dude just doesn\'t look scruffy enough. I wouldn\'t go for overly bright colours either. i think it\'d be cool to have it in desert colours with perhaps some muted chapter colour detailing and black chapter insignia. It makes sense for a scout, and a sniper at that, to use stealth in his arsenal. Personally I\'d vote for blood angels but anything would do. Think US khaki vehicle with black markings, some rolled up (or deployed) camo netting, a canteen, an antenna on the back of the bike, a pair of binoculars, a portable vox caster (radio), a fuel jerry can.

For detailing the desert, how about a tumbleweed? A half buried skeleton of a small animal or even humanoid, a little scorpion hiding under a rock, some vague tire track of the bike itself or other vehicles. A lonely desert flower, some weird little rock structure. Some shrubbery? A pet vulture? A little gecko stuck on a rock somewhere....

In my opinion? Definitely not. My first thought was \"leather\" when I looked at it and it looks nicely weathered too. But that\'s me and I\'m definitely not the best painter around.
Lovely as always!

the overall impression i was attempting to achieve was one of searing temperatures during the day, freezing cold during the night and blasting sand storms and the effect they have on equipment

Ow, it seems I missed on some progress ! :D

Looking good man, the base looks very good, great colours.

The weathering on the rifle looks good too. Very heavy weathering indeed. On the rifle it looks very good but the scope seems to be just a tad too harsh, it\'s looking mighty flakey I feel.
But I\'m sure that once the detailing is painted on that it\'ll look spiffy.
For the mechanic parts of the rifle, perhaps give them a well maintained and oily look. The rifle is probably the thing that receives the most cleaning attention in such hostile environment. If it\'s too dirty to shoot, the sniper is a useless asset.

I agree with Meph. Lovely weathering and it looks great! Only thing I feel is that it might be a bit overdone since that very rifle most probably is the most well-maintained piece of wargear that guy has.
