WIP: Slow and steady...

Hello All
I have been looking around this site and forums for a while now and have finally decided to take a leap of faith and start a WIP thread. I started painting a few years ago (after 30). I enjoy painting but I don't do it as much as I would like and I hope to change that. That is why I have started this thread. To get involved in this community and to learn as much as I can and get as many tips as I can. I see these great minis on this site and have to keep telling myself that these great painters have been doing it a lot longer than me :) I'm not a great painter or a fast one so these updates may take a while, but I hope that sharing it here will motivate me to paint and post more. So without further stalling, here is my first WIP so far.

At the moment I'm only using it to prime and undercoat. I'm fairly new to airbrushing. I like the even and smooth cover it gives. It looks rough on that one because I started it then stripped it back. I couldn't get all the previous prime and undercoat off.

Thanks for that video, it will help a lot. Word bearers have a similar colour.

I just had one of those moments that everyone has had, putting on the final touches to a mini and then make a total arse of it.
Below if my latest effort...I was drilling holes to pin it to the base and went right through the foot. (note to self, from now on I will drill before painting)
Surprisingly I didn't go into my usual screaming of obscenities, I thought "no problem, a bit of green stuff and it will all be good", until I remembered I threw it out because it was old...aarrrgghhh!
Anyway, here it is in all it soul crushing horror :doh:

A little bit more

So...more things came up over the weekend and I didn't do as much as I would have liked but, I did do a little bit more.
These up close pictures really show the imperfections of my technique. Looking at it on the table with the naked eye I'm really liking it so far, in the pictures....not so much.
I know multiple thin layers are the way to go but find that method difficult for small areas of coverage like the flames.
I do have one question, I have never painted flames before, I have the orange and yellow for the flames but I'm not sure of a highlight colour. If anyone has any tips feel free to share.

So...it's been about a week and today I got some painting in. I'm happy with how it's coming along so far.
I bought and tried to use the Vallejo liquid silver (I have also tried the gold) and it is really hard to get a consistent coverage on the model. I like the look they give but find it extremely difficult to use so I switched to Army painter shining silver.

So, here it is so far.
