WIP - Stormraven modification

I'll be referring to your work when I do.
Being you the master of scratch build... that is considered an honor!
Thank you!

I agree with Meph...
Me too!

i would re use the tail plain you already have make a twin
It was easier to make new ones.
i would also give the control surfaces that bent down look as at the front.
I did!

In a former aircraft designer's opinion, you've got enough (well, at least in the sci-fi world) control area on the canted wings and canard that you probably don't really need the vertical tail at all.

But it would look silly without something there. Maybe two small verticals, off of each engine. Or, you could keep the single vertical, and then make some sort of sensor pod up there. Maybe a communications array.
After reading this... I'm a bit afraid of what I've done...
this image keep popping in my mind.

But let me know what you think...
here are some pictures.

When I work with machines instead of making cuts by hand, I tend to work faster... and I take less pictures of the process... but I'll still post pictures of the making off.

p.s.: I'll re-use the support of the central tail to build the "dreadnought carrier".
What do you think?

Much better, now add shiny red flames on the side and uuugge spinner rims to it!

Maybe try to reduce the tail supports abit in height.

Better indeed. but it does have somewhat of a spoiler look. But that could be just because of the angle of the vertical tails.
Could you take a full-on side shot? My gut feeling says that if the leading edge of the vertical tails is at exactly the same angle as the front cockpit section it will look a lot more balanced. It seems as if at the moment you've taken the angle of the diagonal of the aft assault ramp and the housing of the skids in the back. And that's a steeper angle than the cockpit.

I like the idea alot, the horizontal tail with the flap is great but the tails look far too long imo. I think it would look alot better if they were shortened, maybe even by half, bring it all in close to the hull. Thats just my 2 cents though, great job otherwise :)

Edit:
Apologies first, dont have photoshop installed so a quick rush in ms paint it is but was thinking shorter makes it look a little less "hotrod" lol:

Oh, that might actually look very cool, but maybe not cut of the excess on top, but rather place the tail plane at about 2/3rds of the height the vertical tail so you have little winglets sticking out on top.
You could even mount the little top tails so they seem fully rotate, i.e. no separate rudder flaps but one movable surface.

Concur with others. Lower the height. Not sure you really need the horizontal stab, due to the canard config. Vertical stab, or twin Vert Stabs are a maybe, I would need to see a mock up before I made up my mind.

IMO the ends of the elevator would look better angled up, and maybe 2 small control surfaces over the canard to balance it - just behind the cockpit (also angled up)

Okay, I need more coffee - I was doing just fine with your post, Pegazus, until that last part with the communication array on the tail. I just had a vision of an AWAC that flew up its butt. Yeah, yeah, going to go get more caffeine now.

No, no. Nothing big. Just a squarish bulbish thing at the top. I'd add a picture, but I'm running late.

But the mod he did do looks fine as well. Maybe save the idea for the dreadnaught.

lol! No worries Peg, that was just me in caffeine withdrawal.

And sagh - I wish I could help but my talents are furry critters, not mechanical so I'll just stand back and cheerlead. "Go, go, go! Rah, rah, rah!" Damn, I need a drink. ;)

I already have the color scheme for the neon lights and the NOS bumper stickers! This is going to be one hell of a ten seconds car/ship!

You're the man!
The angle is almost the same!

I actually like it this way...
I think I'm going for what you guys sugested...
lower the height.

the ends of the elevator would look better angled up
You mean the elevator for the dreadnought carrier?
If yes, I was going to do that...
just add some pieces to it to make it look less flat and more resistant.

But the mod he did do looks fine as well.
The engineer approves the design... it's a GO then.

Sorry Kath...your last post was the last one in the previous page...I had missed it.
Furry critters... I have been trying to keep away from them.
Focus... focus... I need to focus in my work.
But thank you for the support!
I need it!
:claply:

Nice...
cheerleading, beer and dancing...
I'm sure the work will flow much better now!

And now...
tadaaaaaaaaaa
some color!!!
Please remember that this is the first thing I'm painting...
and...
He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk.
so before learning elaborated techniques I'm still learning how not to live brush marks and stuff like that.
I'm quite happy with the results!

U build like this and haven't painted before...ok didn't see that coming. Then it just got very interesting.

Indeed, that's quite the plot twist right before the third act. I am intrigued. I'm rather liking the rough look already.
One golden tip, when drybrushing... The dryer your brush is, the better. Let the paint sit on your palette/cup/lid/whatever for a minute or two so it's not that runny, and after rubbing off most it on a cloth or piece of paper, always test somewhere, best is like the meat of your thumb. If almost absolutely nothing comes off, then you're good to go. Never start drybrushing with a damp brush that still leaves streaks.

Well, I'll join you on the cheerleading if it helps ;)

Don't fret Sagh! For the tiny bit you did so far, it looks great. Thumps up!

Oh, more cheering to appreciate while adjusting my monocle and sipping good wine. Proceed, Miss, proceed.

Bloodhowl pulls the blender out of the cupboard and begins to mix up a large pitcher of Margaritas.

Would you like yours frozen or on the rocks?
