Hi everyone,
I was wondering if i could get some comments/constructive criticism on my my theoden,he is finished apart from his base(which i need some help deciding on what to do with). This is my first attempt at gold nmm and only my second at silver so i think it turned out quite nicely.
thanks in advance

Looks good so far. The black arts of the armour need a bit of work (H/L) and clean up. The sword needs more contrast IMHO. Great work tho. Much better than I could do so take my comments with a grain of salt.

Crikey! That\'s friggin\' awesome, his face is excellent, and the NMM... wow :wow: I would agree, more work on the black armour would help. But man... very cool indeed.

Awesome.
i like: - the nnm,especially the hauberk
- the face. beautiful fleshtones.
(what did you use, btw?)
- the overall colour scheme.
I would have left the hands ungloved, for sake of contrast; and i agree that the sword needs a little more attention.
You paint better than i do, so qualify my remarks. Solid 9.

this is really well done, and I like your gold NMM, what colours did you use for this?

Again it is better than I can do so I feel I cannot add any constructive comments on the painting, but in respect of the base I personally would try to stay loyal to the films (and books) , and would go one of 2 ways.

Either a stone floor effect, as if Theoden is defending Helms deep, or mud and grass like the battle of Pelenor fields. IMHO grass would add a nice bit of contrast to the model, but Helms Deep is my favourite battle in the trilogy so for personal feelings I would go with that.

Hope this has been of some help. Great painting, hope to see the finished model!

Thanks for the great comments everyone :)
The face is painted with a mix of Vallejo Flat Flesh darkened a little with scorched brown and the tiniest amount of liche purple(sounds weird but works well). The gold nmm was painted using just plain artist paints from a craft store, the colour is raw sienna darkened a little with scorched brown and a tiny amount of sunburst yellow.I will also try and add a little more contrast to the sword today.
Thanks again for all the comments and i hope to finish him today so look out for some finished pics soon.

Looks great, the one thing I would do is flesh out his hands, it looks a little weird as it is now. Other than that finish the base and you have got a stunning rendition of Theoden.
