Here we go, it\'s finally finished. Entered it for a local painting competition but didn\'t win anything (I entered the 16+ category and I\'m still 15 you see), although the competition did make me finish it which is a good thing
Pictures aren\'t perfect, front is a little shiny and the back is a little dark, but its almost exactly what it looks like. What do you guys think?

I like your overall paintjob is good, but where I see it lacking is on the base. it looks kind of uninteresting and it would do well with some weathering. the flame off of his rifle thing looks a little wrong to me and doesn\'t look much like flame. voted also:beer:

When a gun is discharged..there is a little residue along with smoke..not flame... smoke is not red/orange but black grey..
he is correct in his assumption that there should be smoke coming out of the barrel instead of flames.

Not really, because it isn\'t an ammunition firing gun, but a flamethrower style weapon.

This does give an odd look to the piece for me, because the barrel of the weapon isn\'t gun like, but there\'s no rule that demands you stick rigourously to the background, so if you wanted to try something different then fair enough.

Overall painting is fairly good, but some of your final highlights could do with going up a stage or two more I think. They are left looking a bit flat compared to the NMM areas.

I don\'t like the base so much if I\'m being honest. It\'s lacking in ellegance a little bit.

I painted it as smoke coming out the nozzle of the inferno pistol because of the very small fuel cartridge in it, I thought it would run out of fuel far to quickly if the gun had fire burning in the barrel all the time lol

I think some of the flatness is caused by the pictures, they aren\'t as good as they could have been. I\'ll see if I can get some better ones and re post it.

Any ideas for something to add for the base? I was in a rush to finish it in time and I basically suck with bases too

well, for the base, I would recommend some freehand scratches and some weathering around the rivets.

The thing with the base for me is that it just looks like you have bunged a big old bit of plastic terrain on a little round base. I think you could do with blending it into the actual base more, with different textures of rocks, sand etc. Perhaps add a bit of mangled metal and stuff like that too.
