Witch Hunter

I don\'t usually plug my minis on CMON, but this is an exception. I\'ve been trying out a lot of new techniques, and I\'d like to hear what people think of them. I\'m open to criticism, as right now I\'m really just trying to improve my skills. Extensive and varied NMM is pretty new to me, but I\'m easing into is, so comments on that most appreciated!

That\'s looking great, lobster boy! :p

I really like the SENMM o the breastplate and shoulderpad. The rest of him looks dark and dreary thopugh, so the context is a little weird for me. That and the slightly glossy look is all that\'s a teeny porblem for me. ... okay, and the on light soorce effect in some places looks too red. (Even I\'m not 110% on those effects... yet) But that\'s it! Really!!

I noticed that too. It was originally going to be a very dark grey mini, but because of my bright, bubbly personality it just got brighter and brighter! :bouncy:

Nice one Dennis... But I agree with Chrispy: There\'s something strange with the red on the hat...

Maybe it should have been brighter on the top of the hat... But, I\'m not a master in lighting effects...

Very nice, but the lighting effect should, I think, be more orange if it\'s fire, and also more diffuse. Now it looks like someone pointed a large laser at his gun and hat, when the light should be a trifle softer and the cutoff shouldn\'t be as sharp. I think (I can\'t do light effects either ;) ).

Hey James!

I think the torso is the best part of the mini, beautifully painted and carefully shaded. And the small bottle thingy on his back is a great idea.. with the counters :)
I\'m not quite sure about the lighting effects, should be more orange and yellow at the edges i think.

But.. a great mini ! I gave it a 8.5

which hunter? lollollollol...oh, i\'ve been dying to crack that one.....

The lighting really isn\'t bright enough in my opinion, light orange or yellowy white would defenitely look better, and bring in some more contrast to the model. The brass NMM is really nice, but as already stated, looks a bit out of place. Maybe some teal/dark green patches around rivets and stuff to tarnish it a bit? I like the check patterns, one of my fave ways to create a bit of an interesting border on cloth and weapons, without going all out freehand. nice work!

Sweet.

I would have liked to see the source lighting carried across the hat with a large \"shadow\" on the other side of the hat. And maybe some down his left arm as well.

dont worry about the plug...

You are not \"plugging\" anything by soliciting advice from our co-forum members...

There is a vast base of knowledge and experience with them, and I know for myself, I want to tap into it.

Plus, now I see why you haven\'t been spending too much time on the forums recently...You have been practicing your skills. Great work.

Thanks for the comments!

Yeah, ok, so the light sourcing is the main problem. However, the next model I\'m painting is going to be very light source heavy, so I\'ll take your tips and come back with my next attempt soon!
