A glaze is more oftenly an ink, thinned down a lot maybe 1/6 to 1/10 parts water. Done to give the coat of paint beneath a tone or some special effect. Jakob Rune Nielsen uses many many many thin glazes to create his metallics and it works wonders. http://www.jrn-works.dk
