Wooden Bases

Well i generally use old figure bases,

Go to car boot sales and charity shops look for stuff like,

The Leonardo collection, the porceline figures come with good quality solid wood bases and are easy to seperate,
plus the cost around 49p - £2 for large ones, and if the charity shop does not want the detached fig back either ebay or cannon fodder for your air rifle he he he,

Take a look at my thread here and this is the type of base i mean this cost me £1.25 from oxfam!

Coat hangers, i got one for £1.50 at a local DIY store, screwed the hooks off and Bob\'s your granny, a perfect plinth for a squad of minis.

Knobs....:p
for kitchen cupboard doors etc.
Theres a huge range of shapes and sizes from basic cheap pine ones to more expensive marble, glass or polished metal numbers that will cost a bit

I\'m sure your local hardware store will have vast amounts of them along with some of the other things people have already mentioned.

Hi Ulrak:
At first glance this looks like a good idea but after a while I started to think on this. If you use the threaded end downward it\'ll throw the visual balance of the figure off.
If you intend to use them the other way so that the thread end is where your base will sit you\'ve got an uneven surface to remove. Not the easiest of things to do and will still require a lot of care and attention.

cheap bases

I dont know if anyone is still reading this thread but if you are , this will be useful.....Just type wooden plinth into ebay, and although you probrably wont find stand alone bases there is a shed load of naff figurines and the likes going for pennies but the bases that theyre on are just the job and in all different shapes and sizes. Another place thats good is trophy stores, theres plenty of them knocking about all over the country. The best thing about trophy plinths is that they hav a recess in the center which is perfect to build your scenary up from especialy for all your watery needs. Hope this helps.
