Know your Wordsworth ???

Discourse was deemed Man\'s noblest attribute,
And written words the glory of his hand;
Then followed Printing with enlarged command
For thought-dominion vast and absolute
For spreading truth, and making love expand.
Now prose and verse sunk into disrepute
Must lacquey a dumb Art that best can suit
The taste of this once intellectual Land.
A backward movement surely have we here,
From manhood,-back to childhood; for the age-
Avaunt this vile abuse of pictured page!
Must eyes be all in all, the tongue and ear
Nothing? Heaven keep us from a lower stage!

(William Wordsworth, 1846.)

I have tried....several times

You can see how unsuccessful I was here:

And here:

You can say I was wrong, but you can\'t say I didn\'t try.

And stumpkiller, there is no need for your gaudy font. you are making your presence felt without hurting our eyes in the process:p

I hate daylight savings time. I even hate it when it makes a modicum of sense, but where I am now it\'s completely absurd. Today, it will be dark at around 11 p.m. here. We\'re losing about seven minutes of darkness every day, and we just shifted the only time some of my not-yet-acclimated neighbours can sleep an hour later in one jump.

The \"fall back\" situation is a bit less bad, but it\'s still annoying to have to run around and change all the clocks.

....was that a hijack, or a rant?

Yeah, I know what you are talking about. I woke up the other day, of course my clock was off, but the rest automatically switched. I was very confused....untill my Roomy told me it was daylight savings. This was yesterday....:bouncy::flip:

It just seems like if everybody\'s so hyped about saving daylight, why don\'t they just stop sending their extra up here?

Sheesh... daylight and Polychlorinated Biphenyls... We don\'t need any more of either, thank you.

Once upon a time.....

..it might have made sense when, if you were rich, you might have been lucky enough to possess a mantle...or...wallclock which would have taken you about 30 seconds to change..

But today, when my own house alone seems to possess at least 50 time-dependent gadgets, it is a sheer bloody nonsense.

I am grateful to CMON however, because for a long time I thought it was just us bloody Brits who were stupid/arrogant/backward enough to think they could manipulate time:D

Nice to know we are not the only dumb-bums in the world:D

Well, in our house we have 4 (count them) 4 cable boxes - three of them reset Saturday night, while the 4th (two days later) is still an hour behind - and showing the shows an hour behind - really sucks trying to figure out the hell you are watching on TV :D

Employing my mighty thread killing skills here for the benefit of all.

So the cable box is actually showing the programs an hour behind? Is it just the preview channels, or the shows themselves? My plant is about to get digital boxes (I love being a cable guy from 10 years ago), and a little insight would be nice.

...and thus the mighty warriors set out to slay the dragon...
