What kind of camera set can you muster...the photo is hurting. This mini is probably great in real life but to improve the photo may help us see it better. There is an article of even putting a teeshirt over a chair and placing the mini on it. Then I am not looking at what looks to be a really cool framed print ( nifty for sure)Here is a simple article as well
Photo stuff

I am not sure this will be helpful but hope it is:)

One for Primeval!!!

Hey Kevin, dug this old Ral Partha barbarian out of an old box of minis and decided to paint him up for our RPG. Thought you might get a kick out of him...

I\'m still working on him, not happy with the skin or the lion pelt yet. The bow string is a strand of hair I borrowed from the wife
But just from her brush, didn\'t actually pluck a fresh one.
:)

Cheers,
Grumb

Now that\'s not very barbaric of you! :D:innocent:

That is a cool figure, I remember him from ages ago. Looks good so far - especially the way you picked out the raised detail on his quiver - most of those old miniatures were hard to do that with. Looking forward to seeing the finished result! Barbaric splendor!

here\'s the hobbit im currently painting as a gift for a friend for his \"gf\" (to be? who knows^^)
i really underestimated, or rather overestimated the size of these manikins
unfortunately you cant see the versatility of the browns and somehow i begin to think that my weathering is almost too heavy since you cant keep copper (kettle) or steel (pan) apart from each other :)

btw nice work napster, voted and commented :)

edit: damn i forgot the image

Betcha ya\'ll didn\'t think I actually ever painted ...

Guess what ... I figured out the fargin\' camera on my own as the wife apparently wasn\'t going to help out (think she was having the \'my camera\' syndrome).

Anyhow, W.I.P. of my own ... he\'s pretty much done, though I know there is a bit of work to be done to him yet.

I think he needs a bit \'more\' color to him, perhaps like mold or some ugly stuff growing on him (one fella on here has a very nice one that contrasts nicely with it). As for the eyes ... I\'ve painted pupils three times on him. They don\'t look right at all so they are all white right now. Thought about making them glowing green (Cyrils article) but I think I\'ll just screw it up if I try at this point).

Comments and possible direction would be appreciated. Believe photobucket made it smaller too so we\'ll have to see what comes up.

Thanks Kevin! I\'m having fun with him. Actually, the snake motif on the quiver I painted freehand. The quiver was just a plain brown box and didn\'t look right. :)

I\'ll let you know when he\'s finished and posted.

FF: Nice looking ghoul there, nice color for the flesh. But the pics gotta be bigger when you post em on cmon, have them like 500 pixels wide and stack the pics vertically.(btw that\'s maybe a bit too many angles)

But i really love the base :D

Well here\'s a WIP that I started this morning. I had the urge to do some metallics (fiugres, just when I\'m getting close to having decent NMM ) so I started diging in my pile of unpainted minis and found this little walking vault. I tried getting a nice, well taken car off, look for the armour, but not to shiny either. The gold still nedds more work especially on the banner (if you call this a banner). Well anyway if there\'s a metalics painting god out there, I\'d apriciat advice :D

Yeah, I was just doing a W.I.P. shot so I just tossed up as much as I could but the photobucket resized it so I was a bit disapointed.

Here is another one, though with more such \'close ups\' it certainly shows more than you can visibly see so well. Personally I think it shows well in person - though that could just be a \'proud father\' syndrome.

When I finish him up and get a proper photo box done, I\'ll do the blue fade background and a font and back shot and that\'s it.

Right now I\'ve dry brushed the \'moss\' in order to give it a bit more contrast since the miniature had a limited palet (I didn\'t realize it till I started to base the bugger over the skulls and then they looked simular - which pissed me off since the fat boy has about 10 layers and the skulls only 4, obviously I could of skipped some steps!).

Thinking about glossing the base to give it that nice \'shiney\' look (I\'ve just repainted it twice to clean it up). Would that detract from the miniature?

Anyhow, here is a better close up, though I am begining to see there is an art to making things look good online.

Psssstt ... I painted nipples ... :D

love the ghoul ff - my only critique is that i prefer darker shadows but aside from that - great!!. please leave the base it is fine. as for the eyes, maybe try pale grey pupils for that \'cataract\'/rotting look. with less contrast with the whites of the eyes, it should be easier to make them look better too

Having spent the last 6 months or so only painting 10mm stuff (to completion that is) here is the Harbinger of the Fury that I started back in August.
She has sat by the side of the computer in this state since then patiantly waiting for me to finish her off, so she is posted here as a WIP to see what people think.
Bare in mind the flesh needs the final highlights as does the leather bands on her arms and legs and the swords are still requiring a lot of work along with the whole thing needing a final touching up and a bit of linning.
I haven\'t decided what to do with all the swords, i don\'t want to use metalics but at the same time I don\'t fancy doing that much NMM either so I suppose its a bit like being court between the devil and the deep blue sea but I suspect I will go down the NMM road.

Its a rushed photo so don\'t gripe about the shot itself.

Comments and thoughts would be appreciated.

As you\'ve already said the skin looks like it could do with more contrast. As for the swords, if you don\'t want to do metallics or NMM, how about the light sabre look?

Looking good Darth - the scale mail looks alot better, did you smooth them out a bit? They seem more in line with the shoulder plates now. Looking forward to seeing him finished!
Never enough barbarians!

Good stuff

@Frustrated Father - your ghoul is looking good, but I have to confess that is one disturbing mini.... :( ;)

@ Darth - Looking really good there Darth! What is that figure, I really like the looks of him? :)

Cheers,
Grumb

@ Grumb

The miniature in question by Darth is from Reaper, Vidor the Northman Warrior. Very cool miniature and one that I have been considering due to his pose and the armor alone - looks like it would almost paint itself.

As for the ghoul that I\'ve been painting ... heh, I kept chortling everytime I picked this bugger up, but it was slightly distrubing after I dremeled the attached base off and then had to look at his wee-willie (there is a hint of it there, I swear) and and the bugger.

@primeval - Yeah, I tried to even the scale armor out some, and tried to push the hilites up as well.

@Grumb - FF hit it on the noggin. :)

@ FF - the disturbing thing is that I have that guy on the shelf and I am quite certain that next time I pick him up I will subconsciously be forced to look for his ghoulish little wedding tackle... lol
