Tom yes the Ilyad minis are resin and very good quality casts they are too.
This is my first time painting a resin mini other than Forgeworld that is.

Stef I got these from green stuff but I know that Frenchkid will get them for anyone that wants some here is a link to their site though it is in French so you\'ll need to understand a little of the language to get anywhere with it.

@Tim : the orc is starting out really nice. Have you thought of doing tatoos or war paints to take advantage of the big skin surfaces?

@stef686 : Ilyad ships to the UK via their web site. If you have trouble filling out the order form, I could translate the field labels that you don\'t understand.

@Cedric I have given tattoos some consideration and if I can come up with a satisfactory design then I will go for it, we\'ll see.

almost there, several weeks later.

a few of you gave some opinions when I having some momentary hesitations about color usage on this guy, and now that he\'s nearly done, I thought I\'d share.

I\'m pretty pleased with nearly every part of him, and its the first reaper fig i\'ve done in years.

i should have him finished and photographed for posting after work tonight, whee!

@rev: the face on that fanatic looking guy of your looks lucious and rich, I\'m very interested to see more of that.

@klute: that is a super cool sculpt. :)

@wolf_fang: thanks for the tip, i may see if i can rustle one of those up. . .it might be a little large, but I\'ve been looking for a crow or raven to include with some norse figures for a while. . .we\'ll see.

Nice Blackfly

@Tracy.....looking good.I would never attempt that one.The skin on him is too \"blue\" for me.Of course that might not be finished so excuse me.I would be adding another highlight with a grey/tan tone to it to get it away from the turquoise look he has.Hope that helps?

Im feeling sick just looking at all that detail :|~

Thanks.I love Cindy\'s stuff and think theres not enough cute little critters around.I wasn\'t aiming at any style really it just sort of evolved from starting as a badger.Im going to do more around the theme though.
I put him in the main voting site if anyone would like a look.

I posted this in the mini swap thread but I thought it would also be ok to post it here it is a work in progress after all. I am having a great time painting this mini and all three minis that were sent to me are hopefully going to end up in a diorama time allowing.

Thats looking cool Tim, the face imparticular is what gets me, nice colour choice, the skin\'s really smooth and must have take ages to blend, Get it Finished! :D

That looks really good tidoco2222. I really like the vivid green, although I do have to ask why you didn\'t go for deeper shading? The blending on the bracer is really good too. Most impressive perhaps is the detail inside the mouth, which is very finely executed. :]

Didn\'t have time yesterday, but wanted to post today. I think the green on this is really vibrant and smoothly done. With the work on the face it\'s really beginning to lift now. A welcome return to form (re. prev posted image, etc...).

:D

Thanks guys I think that when a mini appeals to your taste then it kind of drags out a better job from you than one that possibly doesn\'t if that makes sense. That is to say the last mini though was a quality cast was not one that I would have chosen to paint myself.

To answer the question of deeper shading, it was shaded with a wash of Dark Angels Green and that was as dark as I wanted this to go, I know this is supposed to be a Black Orc but I felt that a lighter tone would work better.

New Edward Dumond WIP

Here is my next project. I had finally gotten around to getting some of the new Reaper Master Paints, and wanted to give them a try. Ed is still in the early stages, but what do you all think so far? I have just started shading him, although the feather is largely done. I was thinking about putting him on a thin layer of greenstuff in a cobblestone fashion for the base. Any suggestions on what I should freehand on the back underneath the leather shoulderpads?

Hi All! Here is one of my many many WIP - white wolf champion- I\'m painting whole regiment of those. I wanted to give him a different feel than others knights so thats why golden armor. Ohh yes..anybody know how to paint a nice looking white fur??

white4.jpg

@Tidoco 2222- this skin is amazing really great, although I though that those orcs in Cronicles of the dark moon have black skin...

@Tidoco2222--I like the skin and the purple tongue is a nice touch!

@Cukier--Excellent start. The armor is looking great, very good highlighting. For the white fur, white is your maximum highlight of course. Then gradually shade down the recesses with grey or a blue grey to get the contrast.

@ Cukier I like the mini so far it is looking very good. Yes you are right they are painted black but that is not the way I wanted to go with this one. I wanted the classic greenskin look to it and went for it. I do not have any background on these stories as my French is very rusty after all I have not realy used it since leaving school over 20 years ago so I must confess my ignorance.

@ Jabberwocky than you and your mini I think is goin to look great let me know how you get on with the Reaper paints as I am thinking of trying these out.

M
@ Tidocco : I have already tried out Reaper Master Series paints. I must admit they`re very good. The skintones seem to be a bit too light IMHO, but very nice. Also I think that when dry they`re more durable (I came to this conclusion after cleaning my palette). Very good coverage.
Even though the bottles are smaller than Vallejo I like them - there`s something put inside to make mixing easier (I heard it`s small metal skull) and the nozzle (???) hasn`t clogged so far (I had this problem with some of vallejo`s especially white).
looks i`ll be shifting my paint range to about half Vallejo and half Master Series paints with some really minor exceptions(likemy beloved citadel snakebite leather :) ). well , at least unless i find some other excellent paints (got to try wargames foundry).
