Work In Progress

@Tracy ....cant imagine a better brush.
Red would work with the blue robe and the red/blue base.Or red with blue highlights.

Heres the next sculpt from me,well some of it.
He is going to be a big hulk of a guy 54mm scale. The greenstuff where the head is will be about the size of the head.
What Im thinking is sculpting a naked \"blank\" then casting resin masters.I will use these to finish off the same figure in various guises.Barbarian(though maybe not cos I wouldnt want to step on Thruds toes),commando, street thug, beastie etc etc etc.
I pretty much sculpt him from the skeleton out.A thing Kev White does and to be honest is a great way to learn the muscle groups etc.
Just the hands, head and dangley bits left.
Ive got loads of ideas for some friends for him too.

That\'s looking decent Mark - not a bad anatomical study at all!

I\'ll buy some of these off you when they\'re done - I love macho pinheads!

Read that message over at FoD. Just PM\'d you about Collin! :D:bouncy::flip:

Darn Klute you have moved up the mammal chain quite smoothly. Really good muscle structure. I love 54mm stuff put me in line with Scott please. In the same line there are you still doing bases I could afford them now and they do not have to be so darn big. I wondered the other night with that thread about it?
As the hair well I kept working and I made the hair ribbon a leather red so that may have screwed the red hair idea up I am going to move to the gems and feathers the snap a shot then bother you all again about it:)

here are some more shots if my WiP ... a limited edition celtos chick. What still needs to be done :

-face, boots, base, chains, golden glove, and I\'m gonna smooth out the highlights on the armpiece.

the horns on the helmet look abit dark on the back side but this has two reasons. On the top of them are some subtle freehand swivels, which would otherwise be lost also I think that the hair would loose colour if I highlighted the horns more. Any thoughts on this one peepz? maybe I can add some more freehands on the darker parts of the horns.

I tried out a new recipy for gold nmm and I\'m pretty pleased with it. imho the handle of the sword and the bracelets look quite good.

if you have any suggestions for improvement, shoot ! it\'s the only way to learn :D

Hi to all
It\'s my first try to post something on the forum (all of this is new to me :D )
Well, here Is my first \"serious\" attempt to sculpt something in fimo.
I\'ve speaking with klute about his hulk, and I decided to post them to see if I could help him with his sculpt.
It is 90mm tall (from feet to head, it\'s not a bust).
may be he is going to be a giant or just a big scale humanoid...I still don\'t know...let\'s see what happens. :)

Hi Edgar......nice one.Are you working from concepts or just making it up as you go.
I got my brother who is an excellent artist to do me some concept drawings for my next sculpts.I think it will help to know where I am heading.
Also your fimo looks a lot smoother than my sculpey.Has yours been baked yet at all? What do you sculpt with?I use a wax5 mostly but it seems to leave \"flat\".

I see the clavicles now.I followed your advice and beefed up the calves and thighs, just a bit though,I still want that massive top heavy look.I also beefed up the top of the chest and smoothed it into the shoulders. This meant I could get a bit of a ridge on to represent the clavicles.
Ive done his head and face now which I was VERY happy with once I jumped in.
The one Im doing is 54mm scale eye level.
I intend learning muscle grouping and drapery etc on 54mm before I go into the smaller stuff.
Thanks for the elp.:D

@tidoco2222 - that base looks great! Using vibrant colour on the wrecked Bonejack and the grass doesn\'t reduce the sinister effect either. I can\'t wait to see how the war witch turns out, your work is always improving.

Hi Mark! On this one I\'m improvising, It\'s just a sculpt for fun :D. It\'s good to use concept drawings, I use to do a very simple concept (basic ideas only) and them improsive with it on the sculpt, just a way to work...as good as any other one :) the fimo has not been baked I\'m still modifying parts...about the tools...I heard lots of people that use wax5 or similars...but I still don\'t know what they are exactly...If I use one...I´m not conscious:D.

Glad You find a reference to work on my advices, post a pic with the advances when you want :)

Nice idea starting with a bigger scale...keep up the good work

I haven\'t kept up with all the work here lately, but it\'s great!

TAB- It\'s looking really cool. That\'s awesome how you have the contrasting warm and cold colors at the bottom.

Mark- You are a man of many talents. The anatamy looks great. The arms are especially good.

Mordred- Sweet NMM silver, very smooth blending.

Tim- The base is fantastic! What scale is the Deneghra? That is an amazing figure; can you buy it individually? I found it on DOORDICE.COM but it came in a $31 pack.

ergman- Very smooth and simply put, stunning!

@Edgar......thanks....I tend to bake mine as I finish an area so I dont mess it up.Im finding cracks appearing at the joints though through handling.I prefer greenstuff but it would be too expensive for practice work.
The Wax5 is a sculpting tool used by dentists to make false teeth etc.I think its the favorite among sculptors.I will post a pic of one later with a figure update.Ive just got a couple of rubber tipped tools which seem good for smoothing out.

@Angus.......the figure is done over a metal armature.I have beed using Sculpey 3 for this one.Its a polymer clay which stays soft untill baked in the oven.I started with white but had trouble seeing the detail so I switched to terracotta which makes it easier, for me anyway.

@James...thanks,this one is mainly a study in anatomy.I am going to clothe him before he is finished but thought it good practice to work the muscles in on all of them for experience. It also means the finished job will be more likely to be in proportion.

@tidoco
That base is looking sweet, Tim! It\'s going to be interesting to see what you\'ll do with Deneghra. :)

@klute
Mark, you\'re getting awfully good at sculpting! Makes me want to try it out.

@ergman
Welcome! I love your sculpts for Sacred blade and this one looks fantastic so far. I\'m glad to see such a talented sculptor here in the forums. (Could come in handy if I decide to try out sculpting... ;) )

@Ergman...... Looking great! I have one question to ask (to all you polymer clay users) Do you still sculpt in layers like with GS? Obviously you have to bake it so I was wondering if there is anything special you need to do. Could someone explain how to achieve the best results from fimo? (I\'m starting to sculpt:) )

Hi enterfaith...well,I\'m used to sculpt with GS, I think in general it\'s better than fimo, what I like of the fimo (and similars) is that you can modify it anytime you need, and this, gives much tranquility to work (to me at least:D).
About fimo advices...I\'m new on fimo sculpts so I\'m not the best to give advices (sincerely I\'m afraid of burning the sculpt when baking :~(). I still have a lot to learn about fimo too :)

Ritual...thanks a lot, glad you like my sculpts:)

just one stupid curiosity...why on replies you put an @ before the name? (you know...the typical question of someone which is not used to be in forums:D)

The @ is to address a particular person. I think it\'s easier to spot something aimed at yourself this way. I haven\'t really thought much of it. Everyone did this when I joined so I followed suit... :duh:

some new pics ... limited progress on my celtos figure. If I can finish the base today it will give the entire figure a more finished appearance.

and a better shot of the horns + teeny weeny freehands :

the last shot also gives a good shot of the nmm bracelets, I\'m pretty pleased with the way these came out.

@Mordred - I am really liking the hair, and the way it goes with the color of the horns and the NMM on the helm. This is going to be an impressive figure when it\'s done!

@TAB - I think the hair might look good red like the contrast you have on the base, or at the other extreme white or silver, kind of the way it looks in that picture as is.
