I hate working. at least in my current job. but that\'s McDonalds for you.
I\'ve been working there for about a year and a half and yet for some strange reason i always get seconded even if the other guys is a total :cussing: moron. seriously - i must be the only person that does the job to completion and yet i get screwed over anyway.
but that\'s enough about me. i want to hear some work rants from everyone else.

69th post lol

Did fast food 25 years ago and got passed over too. There\'s alot to be said for sticking it out even though things arent perfect...................yes, I can say from experience, it really does build character.

I worked for an ex navy man in a pizza parlor MANY moons ago.

\"Shawn! Go clean the toilets!\"

\"Um, sir, there\'s no toilet bowl brush......\"

\"In the NAVY we did it with a sponge and our BARE HANDS! Get to work\"

Contrary to my advice above I didnt last long at that job..........

So can I rant too? \'Cause if I can.......

I actually like my job most days. Sure it\'s a thankless position having to talk to unhappy people all day, but I get to help train agents too and I love doing that.

It\'s just....I\'ve been doing basically the same thing for 2 years now and ....I\'m tired. I need to change positions but there\'s nothing left for me to do. I\'ve done it all. I\'d have to move back east if I wanted to move up and my hubby says no. So I\'m stuck.

How\'s that for a rant?

This is sorta funny, but I\'m planning to make a diorama about one new aspect of my work. The 3D software we\'re using really really sucks. Especially compared to what I\'ve used before. What takes two days now took two hours before. I even came up with a mantra that I utter at least several times a day: \"I curse Pro/E and all those who programmed it\".

I\'m planning to try to get an alter set up in the diorama with some high priest above it about to rip out the heart of the software box. Just need to take the time to find the two minis. Probably will do plasticard or GS for the software box.

Past that, I\'m a bit stumped. Any suggestions? And please, it has to be work safe since I plan on putting this up at my desk to direct the mantra too. Thanks!

Oh, and feel free to continue the rants.

The alter should look like a desk carved in stone with papers coming out of the drawers and wires like Medusa hair whipping around it with sparks coming from the ends of them.

Even a job you really like at some point its eventually going to suck.. for 15 years Ive done what many on this forum would consider the dream job and I can tell you its not all fun and roses on a daily basis infact many times it really sucks.

My advice is if working for for the clown sucks..go find a new job with someone else in town.

My work wouldn\'t be too bad if it weren\'t for the fact that I have to rely on Senior Managers and Councillors to make decisions. They\'re just not competent and have no idea on how to manage anything so nothing gets done and I\'m the one who has to sort the mess out. We\'re three months in to the financial year and no priorities have been set, I\'ve got less than two weeks to write a statutory performance plan and have had no input whatsoever from the so called decision makers, spent a week of my time arranging presentations and reports that were cancelled without notice...

...I\'ll stop now but thanks for the opportunity to let it out. It\'s been very therapeutic.

well summer is here so I\'m on extended vacation :p

BUt I\'ll rant anyway. I spent the last two year in a horrible system called prepa where all the courses are aimed at having you pass Buisness school exams. The probleme is expectency level is terribly high, so you spend most of your time working, even when you do work your ass off your grades are never better then average because the exams are competitive exams so they never really give out exellent grades, teatcher keep telling you you suck and you should work some more, and all the subjects you do have nothing to do with economics so you end up doing do year of courses that will never be used by you ever again.

And now that the written part of the exam is over, I must sit around anxiously waiting for the oral part of it. Knowing that if it dosn\'t go well I\'ll be signing up for another year of prepa !!

On the other end if it does go well..... it\'s four years of fun in Buisness school, but we\'ll see about that once results are out.

There\'s something very wrong with this sentence...

\"Fun\" and \"Business school\" does not belong together unless there\'s a \"no\" in front of \"fun\"... ;)

mouhahaha, then you\'ve never seen a french Buisness school :p Imagine putting some 2000 student that have been deprived of fun and sex for 2 years (or 3 for some) in a school where they have way to much time to themself, where they have accesse to a shitload of activities because they pay the school ridiculous amount of money to be in the school in the first place, and where they are garanteed to have a job coming out. What you get is worthy of a roman orgy :D

If you want an exemple all of the parties, once or twice a week, are sponsored by alcool companies, so they are always open bar once you pay the 2 euros price to get in

I wish I was a student again... I\'d not waste my time studying like previously.

I get about 21 days of leave per year, so...
In 2004, I took 10 days of leave.
In 2005, I took two days of leave in May, and between Christmas and New Year\'s.
In 2006, we were coming to the end of an ill-fated project, my work had basically been compeleted as far as I was able, and we were all waiting for someone else to complete his job. I asked for time off between Christmas and New Year, and was denied it, because; we might be ready to get on with the work. However, the guy who was lagging behind was given a week off in December. Great, so I was ready with my work and he wasn\'t. he got leave and I didn\'t. The project was abandoned, this guy was just one of the causes. Still, he got leave on the promise that he\'d be ready, I was ready for the next phase and was denied leave. (and by the way, I get shat on for being difficult to manage)

In March, I asked for time off in May this year, and it got denied, since my boss had booked the time in December, and she was \"not going to leave the company without any IT support\". Fine. My girlfriend had to cancel her plans too.

Meanwhile, I\'ve been waiting for 4 f\'in\' months for her to start communicating her desires and intentions for a project, to start documenting what the hell she wants done. FOUR BLOODY MONTHS! And she knows full well that I\'ve been working at less than 100% due to lack of shit to do.

Anyone like to guess how many flocking days of leave I\'ve got? 68! Sixty-bloody-eight days, and my boss keeps denying me leave, for no f\'in\' good reason! Not only is it unwarranted, but it\'s also illegal. Next time she pulls this shit, I\'ll thank her for being so generous, extend my leave and tell her that if she doesn\'t agree, then she can bloody well bite me.

Yesterday, I\'m talking to her about something and she says she has a bone to pick with me: she craps me out for not calling her to come and do her damn work! She KNOWS FULL BLOODY WELL that I\'ve been waiting for FOUR DAMN MONTHS!
icon_smile_rant.gif
And this is something she should have done three YEARS ago - one of the reasons for the projects failure was this lack of user requirement communication.

If I didn\'t have an investment in this company, financial and personal, the only thing left of me would\'ve been the dust.

And she\'s not the flocking IT director, she\'s got no place telling us what operating system we\'re going to be using, or what platform we are going to be developing software on, for flock\'s sakes! I\'m just not quite in a position to say anything yet, so I\'ll nod and smile, nod and smile.

A colleague of mine also frequents CMON, though I don\'t know if he reads the fora. And there\'s a relationship between him and the boss lady. And I just couldn\'t give a pinch of flock if he reads this and it gets to her... he\'s probably monitoring my \'net usage too. I\'ve given them both far worse pieces of my mind before. :flame:

Ok... I think Mod wins by default.

If I were you i\'d make some noise, if they flap their wings about it at least YOU have a good cause.
Failing that, file for the pay you shuld get for the accumulated days if they deny your leave lol see how the bastards like that!

It wouldn\'t be the first time I raised a stink. Like I said, I\'ve said far worse to them, but that is now history in the work place, and shall be history here too, over and done. (it\'s not often that one has the pleasure of telling a supposed \'superior\' that they are an example of the Peter Principle and that their management style sucks big time, and get away with it :D )

But yeah, it might be an idea to get some payout for the accumulated leave... especially since it\'s illegal to accumulate more than 20 days.

Things like this just keep me upset until I get home though. I go sit and meditate for a bit, slow the mind and body right down, and all\'s well with the world and my soul again. :) Only once have I walked into work in the monring feeling like a thundercloud, and that was the day the aforementioned telling-off took place.

I usually meditate after 7-8 beers
It makes everything seem so much nicer..and look a lot fluffier.

One thing to watch out for though. If you state you want to be imbursed for the leave you should have had, make sure they don\'t spin you the line about YOU being in breach of contract. They may just try and take the leave off you.
If that happens, you have cause to kick up a massive shitstorm *yay* .
It should be the managments job to make sure you\'re managing your leave according to terms ;) Which puts them rather firmly in the shit with higher managment lol

Don\'t know if that\'s bad or good for you. We\'re limited to 400 hours, so 50 days. After that, come Jan 1, they pay you out the amount over 400.

Sad thing is that I know guys who get this every year. They just love their work, and never take time off. Me, I like keeping the balance around 20 hours. I\'ve even gone negative on the balance several times!

One of my bosses told me recently that I was doing too much. I said I had to as noone else does the job properly. He said you\'ll burn out. I did. That was horrible. Never in my life had I tasted stress before. I flipped. I\'m leaving the place now as noone seems to give a toss there.
