I was aiming for the skin tone to be a bit paler and grayish. I imagine a lifetime of seeing the horrors of war, bloodshed, and evil wouldn\'t allow much time for skin care. I\'ll leave him how he is because I do like it, it\'s just not what I really had planned. The hands are just basecoated right now. Haven\'t got to finish them yet. I may add another highlight or two on the beard, haven\'t decided yet. Maybe try adding some washes, too.
I tried to make the hair look stubbly. I\'m glad people can tell thats the effect I was going for. A good tutorial for it is at http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/247. Mine is nowhere near as awesome as his, but I\'m happy considering it was my first shot.

Now the head armature is on, more supports, and has leg depth...basically armature is done, except for maybe 1 or 2 more pieces.
So this weekend, wiring work starts, then next week, sculpting work...
will be using some more green stuff for joint strength, but then Aves Studio\'s Apoxysculpt for the rest.
The base will be real rocks, sand, branches + green stuff + super sculpey...

For that If it was me I\'d use super sculpty or fimo for the whole thing, but thats just IMO. It looks reay good. Remember you\'re going to bulk it out, so don\'t put to much wire.

I can\'t do that since I need something that is stronger (I\'m told apoxysculpt is stronger than super sculpey) and there will be wiring, etc inside it, so I can\'t put it into an oven to bake
The wiring has to go in before sculpting starts (this weekend) so .... I have to use something that dries via air.

Yeah, it sucks when your sculpting armature gets in the way of actual parts of your sculpture
That\'s a really ambitious project you\'ve got there StarFyre and I hope it turns out great! I assume that Styracosaurus there is your work too? It\'s really nice! Speaking of ambitious projects, Itchy, your Titan is pretty impressive. I\'m not convinced you took the right approach with the legs though - I think that bulky a skeletal structure will interfere with \"finishing\" them, i.e. your Titan will end up with \"fat\" legs. Is there a chance to re-do them with a lighter material?

I must admit, I am getting very worried that this is too hard for me to do
The way I envision not running into problems with the armature is a layer of apoxysculpt all over, which will harden overnight. Then another thin layer or 2 on top which will have the details sculpted into it. However, anything like armour plates will be added after (ie. more greenstuff and then separate sculpting on those) so they will be ON top of the harder dried apoxysculpt anyways.
as well, once the circuitry on the inside it fit and set, I could techncailly compress the sides of the body a bit to make it thinner, then put more apoxysculpt on it for a thicker torso to work
The head may be an issue but eyes, etc will all go where there are gaps and those parts will be solidly filled. Same with legs, except for hind legs where wires will run thru. Also, for torso I want to put some apoxysculpt on the inside of the armature and on the outside for extra strength and maybe even a layer of thin super glue (have some watery superglue that is very strong...runs like water i mean...zap a gap i think it\'s called).. a layer of that on the outside of the dried apoxysculpt could be good? what ya think?

@Seb: Nice going, I just think the breast pieces are a bit off... I guess the uppermost part near the collar might look better if shaded a bit?

NSA: i don\'t know what i could use that\'d be bulky enough to hold up the torso and be smaller than the wood is the problem, really. But it\'s pretty much the same shape as the Imperial Armour Titan, so i figure some a layer of matt board and then details and nobody\'s the wiser. Yeah, your electro-saurus is a purdy dang project, but just take it one step at a time and i\'ll be done and looking awesome in no time. No worries, it\'ll work out. And i don\'t know what electronics you\'re using on your project, but as long as you keep the oven cool enough to not melt the solder you should be good with heating the electronics. Most electronics these days are made to resist heat so they can be wave soldered in mass produced PCBs. And a lot of boards have through hole and surface mount pieces, so they\'d be going through a solder oven anyway. But don\'t take my word for it... check to make sure they\'ll hold up before you fire them. i once nuked a 555 timer thinking it\'d hold up to the heat on a fire fighter robot i miss you 555 timer *boom camera pans above me* WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

I\'ve started using apoxysculpt. Did part of neck and lower jaw. Will do more more fine work tomorrow on the neck/lower jaw. THen friday, the rest of neck. No wires in neck so that part I can do first.
I need a fine brush, for when you want to rub across the wet putty toget rid of finger prints....

@Fizl, that\'s looking pretty good so far. I like the sculpt alot! Very haughty looking
Here\'s my WIP. I\'ve darkened the chest after Godlike\'s advice, and done the face and gold stuff.
Sometimes it really feels like I haven\'t got a clue what I\'m doing, like when I started painting the hilt, but I think it turned out ok in the end. Please let me know what you think so far.
