But i HATE that game. It\'s expensive and addictive. I have played it for 2 months, so I know. (If you haven\'t got it yet, DON\'T buy it. Just a friendly advice....) :|~

To each their own. For my own part I always thought that Evercrack was a waste of time and that I would never pay for a game beyond the original purchase price.
However, my son purchased WOW and I started a character on his account ( hey HE was paying for it.)
I found that, unlike all of the other games I was playing, there wasnt alot of hackers in it, In my time playing, I have seen maybe two hackers in WOW and reported them both. I got the satisfaction of seeing the GM take immediate action in the game. What a cool idea.
Also if I do have a game related issue, having online support directly IN the game has helped alot.

I might have to rethink my \"Evercrack\" ideas in the future.

I have never in all my years of gaming come accross a hacker in an MMORPG (I know some are out there, but usually not for long). The worst I\'ve ever come across it an exploiter (using a glitch in the game to your advantage), but even they are taken care of pretty quickly. That\'s the beauty of MMORPG\'s!

I take that back. My friend Cypher hacked into the server one time and got his account reactivated (he wasn\'t paying) and GM status. He had it for about 2 weeks before he was banned. lollollollollol

This was in Lineage 2

But in WoW, you\'re paying to be allowed to play. Warhammer is something you buy, paint and keep to play with (And i never said that warhammer was cheap, but that\'s a hobby, WoW is just addictive.)

And your not paying to be allowed to play WH or WH4k?
Tournament fees, codex\'s that change, minis in your army that must be replaced by newer, more expensive models? Complete armies that are no longer legal?
I\'d bet the 10 dollars a month spent being \"allowed\" to play WOW is less than what you spend a month on WH.
And look on this website and tell me that this \"hobby\" is not addicting

Haha, right on Lurch. I used to be in the \"I\'ll never pay to play\" a game camp. But think about it this way, as previously mentioned, it costs twice as much for one person to go to the movies and get a drink and popcorn as it does to play WoW or similar for a whole month. You get 1.5-2 hours enjoyment out of a movie night, you get 1-2 hours enjoyment out of WoW 30 nights a week. Alot more if you want.

In short, it\'s far from a rip off or expensive. It\'s bloody cheap. Having said that, I really hope battlegrounds does something for WoW pvp, because it\'s pretty lame and infrequent with its current set up IMO...SWG had a much better situation, too bad SOE cant balance anything other than their chequebook.

saying that you pay to \"be allowed to play\" is wrong: you\'re also paying for the maintenance of the server, constant bugfixes, and most importantly: new content

altough Blizzard have a lot to learn when it comes down to the speed of bugfixes and the maintenance, I\'m prepared to pay for this

Whoa, I thought they were pretty good with this. What game did you play that was better? I\'ve only played SWG but many a friend has told me EQ, UO, Counter Strike and a few others were about the same. I.E. much worse than WoW. Not that I\'m calling you a liar or anything, I\'m just curious.

Or wait, I just realized, are you referring to their 6 hour maintenace downtime followed by server crashes and a couple more hours of downtime or no login function after patches etc? Cause yeah! Those suck! SWG did the same thing, brought everything down, then put each server up one at a time. So annoying, why they dont only take down the one server, maintain it, throw it back up I\'ll never know. Makes too much sense to only have it down for 15 mins I guess.

The cool thing with WoW at least is they often give you an extra day on your playtime, or give you full rested experience as a reimbursement for excessive crashes and unscheduled downtime. Never got anything like that in SWG.

You play PvP server? I really haven\'t noticed any problems with the system...
