Would a SM bleed ?

Hi Y\'all, a little of a geeky question here, I guess it may belong in the game specific discussion, but I\'m not stepping in there lol

Anyway, I got this space wolf terminator I\'m painting for the paint off ( Don\'t worry I don\'t think my oponent use the forum a lot, even if he does, who care?) and I want him to be damaged for more dramatic effect; but more damaged like \'he\'s not gonna make it\' than the usual covered in scratches
that\'s getting a bit overdone. Sure there will be some scratches but I thought of doing a couple bullet holes that show blood dripping from it (It would also put some color to break off the grey). I\'m just wondering if the idea makes any sense, not really familiar with the fluff so I dunno... maybe the armor is un-piercable, or they have no blood but instead run on oily stuff.

Blood like the rest of us. :) IIRC even more red then usual because of it being more saturated with red bloodcells.

This.

however, their metabolism causes their wounds to scab over quicker, so they will bleed less per wound.

hope that helps

well if they did bleed it wouldnt be much...due to the fact that they are 28mm tall.... and also since they are made out of plastic or metal....if they actually did bleed blood...real blood i think we would need to call the vatican to confirm or deny a miracle of stigmata on a miniature.

that said. yeah i guess theres a chance. hehe. ;)

maybe some blood if there is an exit hole. But I\'d guess that the suits have some wound care and/or clotting agents buitl into them. (think mini airbags for pressure bandages maybe?).

So if he\'s bleeding out of holes in his suit, then his suit is shot and he\'s in sad shape all around.

Canon states that they have an unusually high red blood cell count, making their open wounds scab up really quickly.

Squig

so if a vampire trys to suck blood from a space marine, he\'s gonna have to suck REALLY hard?

Actully the geek in me says no. There was an ANCIENT WD article that outlayed the 14(??) steps to transform into a space marine with all the zygotes and crap. I think they have a layer of self sealing armor under their skin, black carapace maybe?

But.... who cares? Paint it the way you think will look coolest and win the duel. Argue semantics after you are basking in the golden shower of victory! It\'s no good to take second place and find solace in the fact that your space marine was painted to \"Keep it real\". Go, paint for victory you french bastard! GOOOO GreenOne!

Okay! Thanks for the reply people.
So I\'ll go with what I think will look best and just let the inquisition come.
So some blood, but really thick and dark that doesn\'t drip far from the wound.

depends on how bad the wound is, generally, thick clotting would be fine. arterial cuts would still be a problem and squirt i reckon

Hey, does anyone have a link fro some of the Dawn of War cutscenes or previes or whatever? I think that would really give a nice perspective on what happens when Marines take the hurt on.

The black carapace only cover there chest and fuses there ribcage together to a solid mass. And they bleed dark red blood which clots very fast!

They do bleed, and they do heal very quickly. It takes an awful lot to slow a Marine down, ie. Nathaniel Garro kept fighting after a psyker blew his leg clean off during the Heresy and some of the Space Wolf novels showed Marines spraying synthetic skin over the most hideous of wounds to get them back in the battle immediately.

Thanks amigo! That should indicate the dammage!

YouTube kills my crappy laptop at work so I\'ll have to check \'em out at home. Or maybe I should paint when I get home? Or maybe feed the kids, fight with the wife and fall asleep in my chair while being yelled at again..... SO MANY choices!

Thanks again, check out those links GreenOne, they\'re BRUTAL if I recall!

FLUFF WARNING: \"Larraman\'s Organ is one of the 19 organs that are implanted into a Space Marine inductee to produce a Battle Brother. This organ manufactures Larraman Cells. These serve the purpose of platelets, but act faster and more effectively. When a marine is wounded, Larraman Cells are released, attached to leukocytes. At the site of the injury, they form scar tissue in a matter of seconds, effectively preventing massive blood loss and infection.\"

They do take a few seconds to work though so you\'d still get a bit of seepage before the blood clots up.

Man, they really thought this through lol
There is enough fluff in there to make even the geekiest geeks happy.

I liked those videos, I might not run to get the game, but the CG is nice.

How the heck does a rivets-and-religion culture like the Imperium possess that kind of advanced biological engineering? Then again, 38,000 years is a long time, the work might have been done in less twitchy times.

They were made in the most twitchy of times, by the emepror when earth was just a big nuclear warzone.
