At least with SWG you dont have to walk everywhere for the first 100000000 levels....

When I played SWG I never once saw a player owned vehicle. It was the most godawful thing I\'d ever experienced. All you could do was run or pay for a transport. It was EQ with a SW skin and horrible mechanics.

Think prequel trilogy minus even the occasional bit of fun, and that was SWG for me.

Blooody hell! When did you play SWG? Play vehicles were one of the very earliest things added! Patch 1.3 or something.

I bought it the day it came out and played it for maybe 5 months...maybe not that long.

It was amusing being a wookiee carbineer/dancer, but not amusing enough for me to stay. :)

There is enough solo content to keep many happy for quite a while, I soloed pretty well up to around 40, but you really need 20-40 good players to group with to do the larger instances.

I had a lot of fun, but the grinding got boring and after being kicked from my guild it just wasn\'t worth the hassle. When you spend hours playing each day it really kills the rest of your life.

I\'ve been clean now for a couple of months, but I\'m hankering after playing again, maybe in a few months I\'ll go back...

As for losing your life? I played Everquest, the game that launched the MMO craze, and THAT was a time sink. WoW is like EQ on easy mode, but its still a time sink and a waste of time. A game with no end? Whats the point then?

I played WoW for a bit, but it got boring fast and it just wasnt challenging. I ended up breaking out Oblivion instead and rocked that, which was way more fun and actually had multiple storylines that completed themselves.

Games like WoW and EQ are set up to suck you in using basic psychology principles, like a skinner-box. It starts off with easy to get rewards, you put in a small amount of time, get your present, so you get a sense of accomplishment. Then gradually they just increase the amount of time to get the presents, all the while you pay $14 a month with the other 8 million suckers... Blizzard really hit the jackpot!

I agree with alot of the above posters... an MMO is poison, it will only poison your life... stay away!

H\'mmm. This is why I liked the concept of Guild Wars. It\'s got something of a storyline, I can put it down and pick it up any time I like, and I don\'t have to keep paying a monthly fee that I feel bad about if I\'m not playing all the time. There are a few expansions, but I haven\'t had the time or cash to invest. If I did, I\'m sure I\'d enjoy them. Either way, I don\'t feel pressurised.

It does also encourage you to group a lot after a certain point, because even when you\'re pretty high-level, there are still things you won\'t be able to do by yourself. This can be annoying, but I got over it. H\'mm, getting the urge to play again now...
