Wyrd Painting Contest: Total Testosterone!

The time is upon us for the next Wyrd Painting Contest which has developed from its modest start to a contest that now, with the help of the miniature community and generous sponsors, will become a quarterly event held year round with the theme of the miniature changing from contest to contest!

TOTAL TESTOSTERONE is the name as well as the theme for this next contest which encompasses anything and everything (well, mostly) that is man, or better defined, as male.

Overwhelming muscles, the need for a big weapon and the underlying instinct to show off for the fairer sex? If the answer is yes, then your miniature is more than qualified for the Total Testosterone painting contest!

The contest is open to any and all, and the choice of miniature is yours to make, from any manufacturer, whether fantasy, sci-fi or something else altogether. There are several categories to enter and you are welcome to enter each if that is your desire.

For your miniature, it must be male and to be more specific, a human or humanoid type. Examples are: Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, centaurs, male vampires, ogre bulls, WWII cyber-zombies ... etc. The list is rather long and and open, but if you should question it, please contact me and I will give you a final decision upon it.

You cannot enter anything that can be defined as a critter or monster (no remote resemblance to a human), and that includes badgers, dragons, stone trolls, skeletons (even if they have the proper amount of ribs!), etc. Although you could argue that the creature is male, that is for another contest down the road and I don\'t wish to mix themes.

The contest will run from June 10th to July 22nd, after which, all contestants entries will be placed upon this website anonymously. Voting will commence from July 23rd to July 31st, and depending on the number of votes and comments, will be posted within a few days of the closing date.

Sponsors for this contest are:

Dark Age Games
Dark Forest Miniatures
Darksword Miniatures
Freebooter Miniatures
Gamers Quest
Ginfitter\'s Gnomish Workshop
Groundforge
Hasslefree Miniatures
Reaper Miniatures
Spellcraft Miniatures
Spyglass Miniatures
Urban Mammoth
Woodland Scenics
Wyvern Games

Prizes will be awarded to the winners of all categories, as well as prizes given randomly to entrants to encourage participation. As you can see from the list of sponsors, you have a good chance to get your hands on some fantastic product.

For full details about the contest and its rules, please follow the link to the website and read the contest page as well as the rules and info page! Should you have any questions, don\'t hesitate to ask.

Now grab those brushes and slap some paint!

This sounds really cool, I think I have a classic Ral Partha that would be perfect for this....

Mwa Ha Ha ha...

(sorry, an evil laugh seemed somehow appropriate) ;)

I hope Rev joins this one, it would be great to have him as a \'joiner\' rather then a \'naysayer\'.:D

hehe i think i have a mini thats been sitting on the shelf for some time, all boring (but shiny) without paint on him.
did you want us to send before pictures?

No before pictures - that\'s more work than its worth!

As for Rev, we\'ll see, I think Phil had an idea and I have to admit, I\'m damn curious what it was that turned that twisted mind of his.

:p

As an update, I have just added Hasslefree Miniatures and Spellcraft Miniatures to the lineup of sponsors. With possibly a few more in the days to come.

And once again, I participate in a painting contest that I have no chance in hell of winning.... :D

As soon as Nathan replies to my mail, that is ;)

*whistle*

Nope, nothing here...no mention of minatures at all. Who likes cheese? I\'m up for cheese.

@ Wiccanpony

That had me laughing - I can\'t wait to see what you come up with!

@Mosch

Hrmmm - no mail as of yet and I\'ve checked three accounts that you might possibly sent it to. Try resending it to one of these two accounts.

@ Levdir

Wolfen is pretty solidly in the critter catagory. Also, keep in mind to not announce publically what you are intending to paint (or even speculate) as all entrants are meant to be annonymous. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

@ Everyone

Just added Spyglass Miniatures as a sponsor of the contest. Fantastic! Thanks Steve.

The one that got away

I used to own a mini that would be perfect for this, but alas he went with some stolen luggage about 10 years ago.

I have no idea who made him as he was unmarked and I found him on the ground one day. He was a \"lizard man\" with Schwarzeneger\'s build, a shield and a mace, and the naughty bits of a porno star. If he sounds familiar to anyone, I\'m always looking for a replacement.

p.s. Wiccanpony has 2 men?

Oh wow...ouch...that hurt my ribs. Probably don\'t wanna go repeating that too loudly with this community. ;) And the hobby knife comment...well...that\'s just scary. lol

I actually don\'t have class tonight, so I might go digging through my pile o\' minis and see if I have anything. Actually, come to think of it, I have a perfect mini...I just have to strip the paint and get a new paint job going on it. Hrmmm...

*insert maniacal laughter here*

I\'m looking forward to this one! I actually don\'t have any vacations or random stuff planned for next month, so I might actually have time to do something right! If my procrastinating gene doesn\'t kick back in. ;)

That\'s a GREAT list of sponsonrs FF!!! Congratulations and here\'s to a new contest!!!

Looking good!

Well done Nathan! Thats a sponsorship list to be really proud of....and I know they didn\'t come looking for you:D

There \'s a lot of hard work represented there and I wish you every success with this competition:D

I am not sure that it will be manageable on a quarterly basis however, but look forward to being surprised:bouncy:
