Done!

My entry is submitted, finally! :) My initial plan was to have this finished weeks ago and it nearly was. Somehow, though, the finishing touches took forever. Mainly due to procrastination, but still...

I managed to finish mine and take photos Friday night, then I came on and saw about the extension, so collapsed in bed and didn\'t mail the pictures off until today. I\'m so happy to have finished in time, I thought I was getting a bit quicker, but total painting time on my entry was around 35 hours, so maybe I\'m actually getting slower... I\'m really looking forward to seeing everyone\'s entries, I\'m sure there will be some really great and creative stuff!

(laughing) Someone actually managed to send me some at 11:58pm last night - I was damn surprised, and I figured there would be a few stragglers after midnight, but there are a bunch of honest abes out there as not a one after midnight (chuckle).

Stayed up till 5am getting pictures edited and now I\'m about to get them seperated properly and put up on the site (likely take all my free time before work today). 60 entries, a good turn out!

11.58 eh? That one wasted TWO whole minutes of good procrastination! lol

Nice to hear there was a fairly high level of participation!

It does seem that you have plenty on your plate Nathan, but I was just thinking about a contest you could run \'in between\' your Painting contests.

I know you like to write short stories, and it would seem fitting that WYRD Games would have a \'word\' contest. Maybe a short story contest (1000 words)

Heck, you could even make it mini related and have submitters write up stories to go with whatever mini they decide to paint. You\'ve got plenty of great stuff lined up already, just a thought for you.

Good job on the contest and good luck to all the entrants!

In the past contest what is usally the turnover time between deadline and gallery launch, or what is the ETA for this contest?:D

Hola folks!

As I\'ve been asked this in a couple of PM\'s and on some other forums as well, I\'ll go ahead and give a public answer.

I spent about five hours last night editing photographs and getting general \'lead up\' work done. Got to bed around 5am, got up around 10am. Started placing the miniatures in their proper catagories and then realized I hadn\'t made the thumbnails yet, so I spent another hour doing that. Then I started the HTML work to get the website in order and was about halfway through that when I had to run off to work (where I am now, for a another few hours).

When I get home tonight, I\'ll finished up the HTML and the links and get the general instructions posted for voting and commenting on the contest entries.

In the mean time, although I don\'t have any links to full sized pictures, nor is the page officially published on the website, you can get a sneak peak at the thumbnails here.

Sometime in the early AM (likely around 5am again - sheesh) I\'ll have everything up and running.

@ Supervike

That\'s a great idea, and one that I\'ll keep in my pocket for the near future. Right now the website is being completely redone behind the scenes and will become public likely the first week of September with some interesting changes that I think will be enjoyed (and surprising I believe). Your idea will probably see fruition sometime after that.

(looking at clock) Looks like its time for me to go back to work ...

Oh boy I can\'t wait to be able to see the full on version of each mini. Just glancing at the thumbnails there is some really good looking minis done up for this comp. :D Well done everyone that entered. :D

And we now come to the end of the second Wyrd Painting Contest and the participation has been outstanding, both in terms of sponsors as well as contestants. A big thank you to everyone involved!

It\'s now time to start the voting!

Voting will commence starting immediately, July 26th, and will run through August 2nd. On August 3rd, I will tally the votes and announce the winners of the four catagories entered as well as the Best of Show and Best Base/Diorama which miniatures can only be voted into.

In order to vote, you simply need to take a good look at all the entries and e-mail me your votes. Please take the time to look through all the entries, and if you have the time or inclination, try and leave a constructive comment upon each miniature as at the end of the contest, I will post a few choice comments for each miniature, as well as send the collective comments to each individual painter.

Please select a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for EACH catagory.

As an added incentive to encourage voter participation, I will choose five random individuals to recieve a Random Schmuck (TM) prize for leaving a constructive comment about EVERY miniature while voting. This will be a random miniature chosen from the swag graciously donated by our sponsors.

Thank you again for your interest and participation!

Um... I really don\'t want to vote in the category my mini is placed in. Can I just vote for the other categories or am I even allowed to vote in the category my mini is placed in?

I\'m a bit confused about how the voting works for best base/dio and best of show. Do we include our votes for those categories in with the regular votes, or just nominate minis we think should go in those categories which will then have a separate vote?

As I see it... How to vote:

One:
Pick a First, Second, and Third in EACH category.
I have no problem voting for my own mini, I\'m sure politicians vote for themselves, after all. It\'s only one vote, guys. Place your mini however you see fit.

Two:
Best in Show: Compare the minis you picked for First in each category and rank them: First, Second, and Third.

Best Base/Diorama: Pick whichever minis you feel has the best basework, from all entries, no matter the category, and place them in a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rankings.

That\'s how I see it. Is that about what you were thinking, FF?

:)
