YARFC - Lanarn, my first light sourcing

This is Lanarn the sorceror from the Reaper line, and my first attempt at light sourcing.

Any comments/critiques/thoughts are welcomed.

Okay, I know this is a hard technique and I don\'t want to sound rude, but it looks like you did a few things wrong.. For one, it looks like the source of light is on his shoulder and not in his hand, and it doesn\'t really blend out like light should, it seems to cut off abruptly. The shading and compostion looks nice, but learning how to do this requires a lot of time and practice, especially with colored flashlights at night!

My Opinion

You did a great job actually painting the mini., but as mentioned above it seems as if the light is not as strong as the coloration is implying. It also looks one sided as if a flashlight was shining thru the orb. My advice would be too make the light cover a larger area (including the base, if the light is that strong a green tinge should be on a large portion of the model) and more diffuse instead of so intense and terminating so quickly.

a learning experience

please keep in mind that this is constructive critisicsm -

it\'s a pretty good first attempt, but i agree with chrispy that it seems like the light cast by the sphere is a little off.

more of the green light should be concentrated around the hand, as this is the primary light source, and the green tones should gradually blend into the blue as the distance increases away fromthe light source. the way the model appears, the cloak could be mistaken as a two-tone object, as the transition is so severe.

it\'ll probably take a few attempts - i haven\'t posted any of mine, but i can appreciate how hard this is to pull off.

You got it right on the staff and the lower sash looks pretty good, but the cowl neck and face is not right. Keep at it and bring it to Grail Quest. :innocent:

Yo! Darth it sounds like the above posters got the criticisms right on, so I will just stick to the praise part....

The top right view is incredible. I love the way you have made to lighting effects, but everything else is very smooth as well.

I think you are definately improving with each mini, and this is my favorite of yours.
