Hey thinskin!

I wasn\'t getting uppity..I thought you might know me better by now:D

Yes, I do think GB is a Muppet, but, as I said, our own leader is a muppet as well....

Shows how easily misunderstandings can occur.....:(

I can assure you that I am as light as a feather and I join you in remembering those who died so that we might be free....I would never do anything to disrespect their memory, but until Shawn posted, I didn\'t even get the connection.

Over here we call it \'Remembrance Sunday\' and there is no holiday aspect to it whatsoever

hmmm.

Finn certainly doesn\'t need me defending him, but I can\'t see anything of what he said that was taken as a \'serious\' tone.

He was poking fun at his old chap too, from what I could tell.

Or he could actually be being a real wanker, I\'m not so much smart.lollol

I\'m sorry if I started something prickley. I was just in a silly mood. That\'s all. I ment NO slight, just a ribbing.

Ah you know how it is Supervike some people can be real cool 99% of the time but then you make 1 little comment about, politics, religion... and they lose it.

Yeah..but you don\'t know me like Jim know me...

It\'s not too hard to realise when I am upset about something...

Which only happens rarely I would hasten to add:D

Thanks for your support Jim!

I think Markus must have been on the hooch or something as well...The git is probably just winding me up:moon:

At least he\'d better have some sort of excuse when he gets his sorry arse back on the forums.....

See! That is a bit of repartee... I wouldn\'t really say that to someone I couldn\'t be absolutely positive wasn\'t 6\'8\" and a kick boxing champion....

Because I am ony 6\'7\" and have a black belt in flower arranging:(

Anyway, to see if we can get back on topic. So, if I understood it correctly memorial day is to commemorate soldiers who have died in past wars? We have something like that too the day before liberation day. But for us the 4th of may \"dodenherdenking\"(the rememberance day for the dead) is for all Dutch who died in wars. Primarily those from WWII but in later years other conflicts and peace keeping missions are included too. This day is pretty serious and solemn. The day after, \"bevrijdingsdag\" (\"liberationday\"), is the party day here. That\'s when the end of WW2 for the Dutch is celbrated. Concerts throughout the country and parties everywhere.

Bye, Ming-Hua

Its a little more complicated than that. Memorial Day originally started in the South as a way to memorialize the Soldiers of the Confederacy. Then the Northern groups picked it up as well, and after WWI it got finalized as just Memorial day - with 11 November as Armistace Day (Veterns Day to those of us in the States)

:D

Aw, you guys! You make me feel all funny and gooey lol
Or could that be down to the reckless misuse of drugs and alcohol??? lol

That explains the \'funny\'

Not so much the \'gooey\'

Actually, no explanation is needed (or wanted)lollollol

We have rememberance day on the 11/11 the WW1 Armistice day. No holiday just a two minute silence which is apparently all thats required to remember/mourn for the millions who have died so we can do stuff like this.
