He he! Emmas first attempts are better than a lot of stuff in the GW cabinets in sunny Coventry!

The priests are looking very cool too! The \'musician\' idea is a good one and very in character

As much as I\'m enjoying the warrior priests, I\'m also a sucker for the pith-helmeted IG :)

Any progress on them?

Sorry DaN no painty progress on the Praetorians however they have now got spangly new movement trays from Litko Aerosystems in place of the crappy card efforts in the picture.

The Grave guard guy actually has no head, that one was on loan from one of the knights and was stuck on with blutack. 25 heads did turn up in the post this morning from Hasslefree along with two sticks of bubbly gum, is that service or what:D I\'m going to start on them as soon as I\'ve done the two units of knights, the halberdiers and the flagellants. Then I\'ll have an 1500 pt army ready to go for the summer campaign

The little paper prayer streamers on the knights. They\'re so fiddly and you can\'t just wrap them round cos the horse has it\'s chin attatched to it\'s chest. Still once I\'ve got all 20 done I can start painting them.

Hi. I hadn\'t seen your thread until today and have just finished reading it. I really like the idea behind it - it sort of fits my approach to painting and gaming, so probably I should do something like it myself.

I like you minis - especially the boyband ;) which is really great and has a nice atmosphere to it.
You have done well on the flagellants too, so I\'m keeping my eyes peeled for an update on them.

Take 2 when I\'m actually logged in........

I took my Praetorians down to the club today so I took the opportunity to get a few pics of them all layed out in formation.

The lighting was crap but the general idea comes across, that of a solid line of laser death pointed right at you.

The Egyptian temple is one of mine made for the club from Hirstarts blocks.

The Command section with Regimental Colours

DSC01144.jpg

Artillery company. Gun crews have dark blue uniforms whilst regular infantry have red ones (possibly an early experiment with the Star Trek philosophy)

DSC01146.jpg

Artillery Command with Maxim Pattern Heavy Bolter (my favourite bit of the entire army)

And finally viewers with a nervous disposition should look away now......

Does I spot some Ratlings...?

Are they painted in the same Redcoat colours...?

Idea! Redcoat \"Smart\" Ogryn squad! :D

There are indeed some Ratlings hiding in the ruins. The original idea was to have them as Natal Native Contingent dressed in dark green uniforms like Ardendorf in Zulu. For some reason I just thought Ratlings kind of fitted in with the idea of them being Afrikaaner. I heard somewhere that they have the nickname hairyback because as a people they tend to be quite short and hirstute. Hairyback . Hairyfoot?.... Nevermind......

What I\'d really like to do is have a big unit of conscripts made from Zulu models to represent the actual Native Contingent but I know if I do I\'ll get slammed big time and branded a racist or something. Some idiot\'s already complained about the use of the Union Jack as the standard

At the end of the day though it\'s all in good fun so I may do it anyway and stuff them

those are well good pics layed out like that they look great. Especialy the heavy weapons they look like they could destroy anything that moved. I remeber these guys from an old copy of White Dwarf always liked em but never seen an army of em displayed.

It used to be unstoppable. The big red speed bump halted everyone in their tracks and the big guns blew the crap out of all comers. The week before I got it to this stage however they brought out the current version of 40k which crippled the armys effectiveness. Damn them and their target priority rolls!!! Now all anyone has to do is pass a leadership test and they can pick off the gun crews:flame:

Still at least it means the thin red line is free to advance and put the boot in:D

They don\'t like it up em!!!
