I\'ve really just put the base coat on to see where I want the colours to go. Eventually there will be some checks etc. and probably a bit of cammo on the Orks fatigues.

As for the size of the army it\'ll be the size every Ork army ought to be

OOOOOOOOOOOJE!!!

2 mobs of 30 slugga boyz,
2 mobs of 30 shoota boyz,
1 mob 30 barrel boyz,

15 kommandos,

Everything is just lovely! Absolutely stunning.

You know, I could really picture a monocle on that weird boy there... just a thought.

I\'ve settled on Da Kernul as my entry into the national painting competition so I had best get my arse in gear if I want to finish him in tome for the deadline. Especially since I\'m off on holiday next week and I won\'t be able to paint anything leaving me with a week and a half to finish him and my other entry.

The metal mitten arm is finished apart from the fuel canister so now I just have to get on with the rest of it.

Da Kernul is going in for the single figure category but I\'m also intending to enter my Mordheim pirate crew into the squad category too. Cap\'n Deadbearde has yet another change of trousers, grey this time. I still don\'t like it as the mini comes across as being really drab. I\'m leery of puting stripes on them as he\'ll look like he\'s wearing pyjamas.

I\'ve done some playing arround on photoshop just to see if purple pantaloons will clash with his red coat.

I actually like this incarnation, although it would be toned down slightly on the mini. I don\'t have much confidence in colour choices where red is involved so input and feedback would REALLY be appreciated.

The Ogre and the rest of the crew need finishing too so hopefully they\'ll be done in time along with a suitable diorama base. Wish me luck :D

Hmm, the pics are taking ages to load. I\'d try again later.

EDIT: Okay I can see the pics now. Yep, you need to tone those pantaloons way down. Also possibly add more red as they clash at the moment with the red coat. At the moment they are stealing the limelight being so bright. I think I would go for a more muted colour, an earthy green perhaps, but hey, maybe that\'s just my own dress sense. The days of really bright clothing have left me. lol

Well I went ahead and took the plunge after consulting with the Mrs who said they did clash a bit but only in the \"I\'m a scurvey pirate and I have no dress sense\" kind of way. ANd yes it won\'t be quite that vibrant, it\'ll be more like the purple on the Ogres pantaloons.

Hormagaunt Purple highlighted up to Bleached Bone makes a nice worn purple. You could even add some dirt splotches here and there with a brown color.

Pirates don\'t have any fashion sense! Purple would look fine, I think.

You could try horizontal instead of vertical stripes. He\'d look more like a convict that a pajama pirate.

I\'m trying to get Da Kernul finished in time to enter him into the national painting competition. The deadline is 1pm on Saturday so I\'d better get my arse into gear!

There isn\'t an awful lot left to do on him really, my biggest problem is deciding what colour to do that tassle thing on his horny helmet. I tried blue but it didn\'t go with the overall look of the thing. Another drawback of the whole colourblindness issue is that it makes it difficult to colour coordinate (or maybe it\'s just a bloke thing  ).

Anyone care to give me some accesorising hints lol

Just as a sidenote I\'ve given up on the pirates for now, I\'ll save them for the next competition.

I\'ve just seen this thread and clicked my way through it, and I\'ve got to say it was thoroughly enjoyable to look at your many projects in various stages, your mounted priests of sigmar look great by the way, religious zeal embodied!

What about red for the tassel? it\'s not anywhere else on the model as far as I can see, so it\'d be a nice contrast, if you leave it untill last you can always have a think then as it\'s not too big a part to paint.

I always have the same dilemma on wolf boys leaders tassles :)

Yeah I was thinking about doing it red but what\'s holding me off is the fact that it isn\'t anywhere else on the model so I was worried it would look out of place. I suppose I could do a few power cables red and go from there. Still you are right though if I leave it til last I can see if it will work.

Cheers for the comments :D

Well he\'s about as done as he\'s going to get.

All I need to do now is sort out the scenic base and he should be ready to enter tomorrow.

Wish me luck :D
