Yellow Snow

I have been using the techstar product snowflakes for a while now, but just recently I have noticed it is starting to go yellow on the bases. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Varnish, Superglue etc?

I too have had the Techstar stuff for at least that length of time..

I don\'t notice any yellowing on my completed figures....

I would suspect it is the varnish. What kind are you using?

You\'re using superglue for it ? Ok.. then the glue should not turn yellow.. could happen though.. but CA always turns white when i used it. But PVA often turns yellow.

And then it could be the varnish, just base them after you\'re done varnishing.

I would say that its prolly the varnish - depending on the brand you are using, they can yellow over time. I\'ve got a can somewhere that yellowed right out of the can on purchase, so right back to the store it went.

Yellow snow is nothing,

its writing your name in the snow that shows your worth. Especially if you can dot your \"i\'s\"lollol

About your problem, it could be the varnish, I varnish first then put the snow on. I use PVA and mix the snow into the glue until you get a thick paste and haven\'t had any problems with yellowing. If you smooth it down with water you need to make sure the water is very clean as any paint in the water could cause the snow to become discoloured. Also, sometimes paint will leach out of the area you\'re putting the snow onto, even though it appears to be dry. I\'ve had this problem with imperial purple and black inks, but no yellows (though yellow is not generally a colour I use on snowy base anyway...).
