heya peeps, after much thought i am contemplating a Blood Angels sucsessor chapter, BUT i dont want it to look like my normal reasionably bland minis so i was hopeing that some of the Masters Of Minis of here could give me a hand in walking me through my design, i think im ganna base them upon the Flesh Tearers so a darker red but not so much black as i think unless its done awsome it looks rather bland. im just ganna do a single marine and then see how it gose i think; but even the littleist of help would be most apreciated

Ok
Think of this as a Chapter Name:
The Sanguine Knights
You could use a Grey Knight Templar as the Chapter Master and paint him in Deep Dark Black-Red with very subtle highlights to Blood Red. Use the lettering picked out in Nmm Silver to give greater emphasis to the colour. Blood angle Iconography could work nicely if picked out in NMM silver as well.

You know having described that idea I might just give it a go myself..

The blood garglers ;)

You could always use bits from any of the WH (Or other manufacturer) Vampire minis.

There was a landspeeder I remember seeing in the gallery that used vampire heads.

I really like that name and style idea DR, and like I always do I love putting history behind it.

and the Knights here are prime realistate for a background of sorts, and you know the Da Vinci Code would be a perfect place to start.

thanks for the help guys, im loving the ideas. as far as the painting gose, DR my skills arnt gd enuf to even comprehend doing NMM :( i am still grasping highlighting to be brutally honest. if someone can guide me through how to highlight gradually rather then extreme like i normally do i will be most greatful :D i mean i gotta learn sooner, so i can move onto more advanced stuff

Well, the answer to gentler highlights is simple - mix less highlight paint in :D

If you\'re doing, say an ultramarine, and you\'re used to doing say 2-3 levels of highlighting, mixing Space wolves grey in with Ultramarines blue and then you come to a character, where you want the blending smoother...

Simply add a tiny bit of SW grey to the blue in small increments, so that each successive layer is only a tiny bit lighter than the last.

Alternatively, you could try wet-blending, but I haven\'t got the hang of that yet, and you need the paint to stay wet for a bit longer, either by using a wet pallete or some sort of retarding agent.

The something blood angeley Knights

havnt quite decided on a name but i have afew ideas for a coulour scheme, ok fist idea is
painted black a then highlighted lightly with red so they have mre of a red tinge then being completley red, im not sure as far as metalics go.

second idea is half painted dark red, and the other half painted black with gold metalics on the red side and silver metalics on the black side.

if anyone else can improve the two above ideas please say, or even better com up with some good ideas lol. also as far as the first idea gose i havnt got the foggist idea how to pull it off.
thanks guys, the more help the better, i wanna make sure i get an army i enjoy painting as well as looking nice and different on the board.

White with blood splatters (they dip their armor in the blood of their enemies to bring about something close to the black rage. Or something like that)

Personally I think the grey knights have the best sculpted armor... but I would want to take my hand at converting them up to be bestial in theme (much like space wolves) with a minotaur/bull as kinda the central beast.

Simple name of \"Blood Knights\" would work...

Or better yet, these guys re-imagined in grey knights armor with conversions...
