i tried to base some minis with snow and the result was the following: it didnt stick to the base
i used pva glue and then dipped the base into the tecstar snow
i dont worry about some snow falling off when touching ... but it doesnt stay where its supposed to stay.
you cant even breath if youre looking at the base without blowing it ALL away
is there a way to keep the smack at the right place?
another problem is that if i mix it with pva glue first and then apply it it turnes yellow for some reason :flame:
thanks in advance for any helpful advice

You\'re likely using the wrong type of glue. I use Weldbond. It has never changed colour in anyway and I\'ve been doing it this way for over 3 years. Use this link for more info...

Joshua; I can testify to Partick\'s minis and his technique. I\'ve got several of his snow based minis and they look great. I\'m still trying to duplicate his icicles... ;)

The other product that I\'ve been using lately is something called Snowtex. It is made with an acrylic base so it can be thinned with water and comes in a paste like consistency.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.

Cheers,
Grumb

I got some Techstar stuff a few weeks ago. Mix some of the powder with PVA, and apply the paste to your base. Dip in the bag of powder afterwards and leave it to dry before blowing the excess away.

Works a treat.;)

the problem is that the stuff you mentioned will hardly sell in germany
im currently using ponal, its well known and perhaps its even the best standart pva glue available in german ... at least its the most expensive, apart from gw\'s ;)
i think i discovered why the snow turned yellow.
i tried to speed up the drying process by putting it under a really hot desk lamp only one or two inches away ... silly me.
but thanks for the link to your page, i always wondered how to make icicles :)
