How about you consider how impractical dragons are. A decent sized dragon (from various texts) would be the size of at least several full grown elephants. So we are talking about 30-40 ton at least. Lets consider these few points
A) How much food would they have to eat a day to remain alive. This is before they start flying and breathing fire?
B) How can they can breath fire without melting their own internal organs?
C) If they do weigh about 30 odd ton, how much lift do their wings need to generate in order to make them fly?
D) How strong do their wings need to be in order to not break off during high G turns?

My favorite game universe would have to be Heavy Gear and i like what they did with creating the animals on Terra Nova. They worked out a set of general characteristics that all animals would have and modified them from there.

I have mostly fantasy but I\'ll buy anything that fits my theme. I\'m likeing the Hasselfree stuff a lot these days.

decisions, decisions....

??? What\'s a poor queen to do?

You expect me to choose a favorite genre? Wow! That\'s like asking, which is best? Steak or lobster? .....uh, .....both of thems is best, pleez.

Here\'s my \"short list\":

- pirates (Foundry, Reaper, many others including the amazing 54mm Andrea sculpt of JohnnyDepp as Jack Sparrow)

- faux Egyptian (ala Crocodile Games, Reaper)

- the elves sculpted by Tom Meier

- anything ever sculpted by Jes Goodwin ...I do love me them vintage Eldar and Elves (Yoo-hoo, Jes! It\'s me, Kathryn! I still love you! Someday you will find me and confess your true love for me. You can get rid of that restraining order now, I promise not to stalk you anymore. Plus you weren\'t really busy when I walked into your kitchen that day to surprise you. I brought you bunny-stew!)

- anything ever painted by Georgi Crawford

- all things mermaid, especially the Fathoms Deep sculpts by Gael Goumon

- all fairies sculpted by Bob Ridolfi (Bob, one day you come to your senses and will leave Julie for me. I will give you a room of your own and you will be my sculpting slave. What does she have to offer you that I don\'t have? ....oh, ...\"talent\"...crap.)

- the mind-blowing 54mm painted historicals by the top Russian artists from Niena Studios and Kolobob.

- and oddities that make me laugh.....i.e.,
... sock-puppet miniatures (I\'m not kidding, there\'s a whole line of them),
... the infamous 3 stooges 3-headed giant (that caused the IP uproar in the days before IP rights were something people thought about),
... the Ral Partha Doom Bunny,
... and other such silliness.

I think my problem is that I like minis.
And minis like me.

...to borrow from Will Rogers, \"I never met a mini that I didn\'t like.\"

Yes, I left many systems out, but that covers the basics. There are lots of invertebrates who jam all their organs into improbably shaped bodies.

As for gelatinous cubes, they would probably have a transparent, proteinaceous internal structure that held their shape and allowed movement...

A book I read as a child suggested they could be \"living dirigibles\" filled with hydrogen - which would explain the flight, and flame breath (presumably ignited by chemical means).

It isn\'t?

Dammit mom!

I know that fantasy is a broad idea. I was defending why Supervike only listed the two. You can’t seriously ask him to type down everything. Right?

I like fantasy too. I like the darker grittier stuff. The original Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay won me over from AD&D because the world was darker.

But if you look into my miniature cases and on my completion table, you will see a hodge podge of miniatures from different genres. But I have noticed I have more fantasy models than any genre.

As I\'ve stated before when it comes to Mini\'s I\'m a Slut, I\'ll take anything.

I started with Historical, got back in to painting through Dwarves, and working through upgrading my Nuns W\'Guns army for a special event, Painting a Steam punk figure as a test piece, have a LOTR & Andrea as a joint Commission and have to order a Hasslefree Party Kev as someone\'s retirement present.

Like Dragonsreach when it comes to minis I am a complete tart and buy almost anything within reason.

I started off with WWII as a kid so I like the historic stuff as much as I do the Fantasy and Sci-fi. If I like the mini/bust or not so mini then I will add it to the collection/mountain of others :D

I chose fantasy - it\'s pretty much all I have, although some steam-punk, like the Wyrd stuff, appeals as well. I wouldn\'t say I\'d never buy a mini of a certain genre, if I like it, I\'ll buy it.

Most of my stuff is Rackham, Reaper and Ral Partha, with a healthy smattering of other companies, such as GW and Dark Sword, added to the mix. I see nothing wrong with a bit of cheese- it\'s an entire diet of it that causes problems! ;)

@Whoever mentioned Eastern Front\'s Fathoms Deep stuff- I have their female sea elf on seahorse and their sea serpent, and they are both very nice indeed. I wish I\'d bought more while I had the chance.

Well, I\'m a bit shocked it wasn\'t on your list of genres. I\'d expected it to be the first one on the list.
