Your favorite holiday

Ok, I\'m bored out of my mind. I\'ve been sitting here for 30 mins without a call, I\'m on-line even though I\'m not supposed to be, done every puzzle on jigzone.com and insulted my 2 hapless male collegues more than I can stand. Soooooooo................It\'s time for a pointless question:

What is your favorite holiday?

Mine is Christmas but that\'s partly because it\'s also my birthday.

I don\'t like Christmas, due to the hypocrisy surrounding it.
Other \"religious based\" holidays leave me cold.

Holidays as in breaks from work are far more appreciated.

I like Christmas the most. The religious aspect, the winter season, Christmas lights on houses... there\'s just a sort of magic to it.

My favorite is Christmas also but I agree with Dragonsreach that they are over commercialized and have nothing to do with their initial meaning. They might as well call them Shopmas or the likes.
In Greece we have a lot of religious and national holidays but if you ask someone their meaning or what they stand for you get a bunch of stupid answers.It\'s really sad.

Chinese New Year!!!
1. 5 days off from work,
2. eat all the unhealthy (i.e. delicious) foods
3. atmosphere is great everywhere in town
4. different kinds of celebration in different parts of the town.
5. Used to receive red pockets (money). But now that I am married, I am the one who is giving out instead receiving :|~

i used to hate christmas (the commericalism, people needing to use half the national grid to show their neighbours how brilliant their house is decked out like blackpool illuminations, bloody mary poppins again.) But now i have the little ones i like christmas because of the kids. Ellie is three now so can appreciate it a bit and its Jasmines first this year so should be good. plus we have been in the house 5 christmasses this year and this will be our first without renovation work ( last year was decorators 2 weeks before and the year before that we had plasterers in for 2 weeks and chrsitmas was spent with still wet plaster across the house)
probably my favourite holiday was the Maldives but thats a different kettle of fish

Christmas annoys me as it approaches... the cheesy store decorations and music, the retail blitz, the inevitable \"war on Christmas\" headlines, etc. But then when I\'m home spending time with my family and eating yummy food and relaxing away from work it seems so nice :) And I can make a cool gingerbread house and interesting new tree decorations. My family is totally nonreligious, so it\'s kind of like US Thanksgiving to us.

(I also like Halloween for the creative possibilities.)

Del dia de Hispanidad. (The day of Spanishness.)

Loads of beach parties and all night dancing at the ferias.

Peace and love...

Christmas because it\'s so relaxed now. We just spend time together, eat great food etc. Not much stress to it at all. However I don\'t like how the decorations seem to come out earlier and earlier each year and christmas without snow (like last two years) is a bit sad.

I\'m dreaming of a white christmas this year.

Love Christmas! Especially with little ones, as dl mentioned.

Hypocrisy surrounds nearly everything. I won\'t let someone else\'s boneheadedness take away my joy. :flip:

Growing up? The Fourth of July, without a doubt. Nothing more fun than getting your hands on a bunch of mini-explosives and blowing up tanks, cans, small plastic toys, etc. Too bad the Safe and Sane crowd took over.

Now, it\'s probably Halloween. Fall has always been my time for some reason. That was when I always got my crushes for some reason in school. Anyway, love the costumes and giving out candy, carving pumpkins. I\'m really wanting to do a bunch of decorations based on It\'s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Snoopy flying around the yard on his doghouse, Charlie Brown and his rocks, and Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin. Good fun, and too much time to probably ever get it done. Want a lot of it to be animatronic.

Christmas for me too. I think it\'s as overly-commercial as you allow it to be... I just like spending time off from work with my family for a couple of weeks, the rest is pretty optional to be honest.... It\'s also about the only time in the year when I can be dragged out to go shopping, so it\'s something of a novelty! :)

birthday and thanksgiving in the same day, FOOD AND CAKE WHOOT!

Cake or Death?
Easter.

The religious significance for me is personally very meaningful, and the weather that time of year makes it even better. It\'s even better when I can spend it with my nieces and nephews.
