Your Metal Mountain.

I've been at it for ten years now, and a lot of people just give me minis because they like my painting. One guy gave me about 2000 pts of chaos a few years ago. Then another guy gave me a 4000pt dwarf army with the stipulation that I paint it all and do not sell any of it. Earlier this year a friend gave me about 1500pts of Wood Elves. I buy a little here and there, but over time it adds up. I went on a historical binge and now I have about 300 vikings, picts, and saxons. 3000 is probably a very low estimate.

I have no real idea of how many minis I actually have... I'd like to believe that they don't add up to a thousand just yet but then again, I haven't counted them... What I DO have tons and tons of are chopped up mini parts which have either been unlucky enough to sit right next to/on/somewhere near a part I wanted to use for a conversion or just something that mysteriously appeared in my bits box somewhere along the timeline...

I really hope my mini count isn't up at a thousand just yet...

Curiousity piqued, went for a quick count. A better ratio than I thought. 1300 unpainted, 1200 painted. Though of those painted almost all are gonna get stripped and repainted one day, presuming I live as long as Yoda.
All that's ignoring the "big box" it'd take more than curiousity to delve back into. After a tidy a while back with lots of condensing to save space, that box must have another two or three thousand unpainted buggers.

As fun as it was, all that time spent in a red shirt painting for stores meant I'd feel less prone to painting to my own stuff. While still going mad with the old discount adding to the mountain.

I've two well painted models (not painted by me...), about 300 poorly painted models (painted by me) and I have over (just) 1000 unpainted models (made it into four figures with a rather large ebay purchase of Dwarves...)

This is a terrible picture (from my phone) but you get the idea. This is most of the painted stuff. Kick the habit before it's too late!

I have thousands upon thousands. I have purchased the entire collections of several individuals in Florida who got out of the Wargaming hobby. Most of these figures are stored in 5 gallon pails in the garage. Not very noble, but they are well protected. I am truly hoarding miniatures, but that is OK since I don't hoard anything else. My wife finds it quite interesting that I will throw away anything not put away in tis proper place, but no miniature will ever leave this house.

I have several thousand miniatures unpainted, most un-put-together or only primed. I find I much prefer the modeling stages to the painting stages. I'm not quite up to snuff on my painting, which is why I'm always apprehensive about actually painting some of the models I convert. A good paint job can cover a lot of bad modeling mistakes, a bad one could make the most impressive bare mini look terrible.

I wish i could be there with you guys. Imagine what i could learn. But hten again, Donna might just bully me.:)

As to what Super V asked: I never really counted. I am going ot say around 250+ here in South Korea, Maybe 100 in Canada, and maybe another 200 in the US waiting for me to pick them back up. I always tell my wife that what I have in my collection is insanely small considering the time I have been in the hobby.

Now that Donna and Roger are with me the metal mountain is frightening. I won't even try to guess at it's size and most of Roger's is still in the UK. When all THAT gets here it might just disrupt the turn of the earth and send us into another ice age!

Compared to some here that are up in the hundereds, I don't have that many, but enough to where I feel bad buying more.

I will only say that if my wife really knew, I'd probably be single.

Lots of large models
Lots of large scale figure kits ( "garage kits" )
Lots of historicals
Lots of WH, Rackham
Shitload of paints.
Ditto tools

My lads dragged me into the mini world then had the cheek to grow up and leave me here alone.
I can't be the only guy telling that story....

My father introduced me into the world of Jet models and their painting. I left him there to pursue fantasy miniatures. Different method, same effect.

Kind of makes you wonder where some of these companies would be without the hoarders.

I have 300 boxes/blisters of Rackham, totaling 569 individual figures.
( Does not include the 30 Wolfen I gave away for the largely abandoned WIP painting thread )
I am quite sure I would have more if they stayed in business....

I did my bit to keep them afloat....

Oh God, I...uh....mmmm....1,2,3,4,5,6,7, uh? Can I just keep it to one manufacturer? I mean I can field 25,000 pts of Nurgle Daemonic forces alone. That's not B.S. I usually have 6 units of 21 plague bearers as my core. Do I have to count each Nurgling separately? The last time I counted those little buggers was back in the 90's and that was around 210, but I've added a lot more since then. I own armies for each race, except one, I hate Dwarves, in the Warhammer Fantasy range. My Skaven army is almost as large as my mortal chaos army and that’s in the 8,000-10,000 pt range. I own over 40 rat ogres alone and can field 3 or 4, 30 or 40 man units of plague monks as well. And I'm well over a hundred in the slave catagory to boot.

Then there's 40K, which thankfully I don't have as much. Well then again? I setup my Tryanid army under the old Epic system (Oh God I forgot about counting my Epic) so a brood of carnifaxes was 3 models not one as the Codex would have you believe, and I have 3 broods if I remember correctly. Termagaunts were 50 per brood and I think have three of those.

Throw in some (under statement) Reaper , Grenadier, Partha, Freebooter, Hasslefree, heartbreaker, Rafm, superior, Iron Wind, Fasa, Etc…

Um I have three! Yes, that’s it. Three million.

OK, I think I may have a problem. :cyclops:

You know you may be an addict if you already own everything on the new release shelf.

Let's see... after clean-up, I have . . . . . . . . . a lot. Twenty some years of buying shinies and only a few of trying to paint them.
