So here is the sample mini i painted for Diggs using the same palette as one of his wolves. i painted it up in a few hours yesterday in between work, sealing the flag stone at the side of the house and waiting for a new hot water heater.

I'm glad you like it Digga! I'm going to leave the videos pretty raw so that you can see me making mistakes too. There were a few moments where i thinned too much or i went one glaze too dark and had to rework things. That way you can see that even with mistakes you can crank out a nice mini for the tabletop in a few hours. And working in squads speeds things up too because you can work on multiple minis while others dry!

Some of the most valuable moments in painting tuts for me (especially when I first picked up a brush) were those where they showed you how to correct a mistake if it happens. It's a "nobody panic" calmness that's very reassuring.

And it's also nice to know that even the experienced and talented such as yourself still make the occasional mistake.

Occasional? Oh hell no! I make a lot of mistakes, in fact many of the artists on here do.

Creativity is letting yourself make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep :brushwave:

Lol. So true!

By the way: it's very reassuring to know that as a novice. :) I guess the skill comes in not only being able to use techniques effectively, but also in the experience to know what to do to fix something.

Yep! It also becomes easier to look at a potential mistake and make it work for you and recognize a happy accident when it happens too. Now, dropping your finished mini and then kicking it across the room as you try to retrieve it is not a happy accident, but it has happened to me. Some things are just a lost cause. I generally crawl under the painting desk and cry for a few hours to help me in those situations.

First video is live. Man, I could crank one 6min tutorial out every two days if life would just get the hell out of my way!

Enjoy. I'll try to get the next one up soon. You know, as i work around life -_-

Come on dude! If Zab takes only few hours surely you can do something in one week or 2, but just start paint and paint paint again layers after layers "I know it's tough but you have to go true it! Think about me man! how many time you think I have to go mind over matter and just keep at it and keep at it, you can do it man, just paint paint paint until you'r one with your brush. :)

Woohooo! Going to watch now. Thanks again for the vid. Also tell life to get the hell out of the way. You got more important things to do.

Yay - heads of to watch. :bulgy-eyes:

[Approximately 7 minutes later] That's a great start to the series Zab. :)

And I'm so glad to see that you also use a well palette for some things! I prefer it in general to a wet palette for my particular style. I did make a wet palette for use on occasion, but I don't use it often.

This is just part one. there are a few others. i just wanted to break it up into small sections that were easy to watch. I would say that the actual time for this stage was about 15 min in total with drying time (sped up by the hairdryer).
