Comments and critique are welcome, I will post more as I progress.

day 1: priming, then basing the inside of the cloak and starting with the metallics.

day 2: doing the face, too tired to do more :]

day 3: doing more on the clothes. thinking of tone down the blues on the back of the cloak...

Update 15/3

update: been working on the hair and beard.

WIP-dwarf-12.jpg

I\'m thinking of doing a glaze/wash (not too shure about the difference... ???) over the whole hair-area.

Anyone with a suggestion?

... and now for something completely different:

a slayer I\'ve been working on the side, while doing the lord, trying out Mousekillers skin-tutorial and experimenting with metallics.

edit:

help and comments are very velcome.

Nice paintjob on the slayer so far. Is that a plastic slayer tho? I dont like that model, but the painting is good :)

@Gaspode: thanks!

Yes it\'s the plastic one from the Skull Pass box and yes it\'s not the greatest sculpt - but it\'s good for practise and I intend to use it for my Dwarf Army.

lollollol ...well not really sure there - it\'s up to viewer ;) , but I\'m gona have him plow through some deep snow. it\'s not the best sculpt on that one either but it\'s an old mini I got in ME11 and it has something that apeal to me

Wow I too am completely stumped by the pose of that mini. It looks like he\'s supposed to be holding something, but I can\'t figure out anything that matches the pose and explains his mouth. The arm\'s totally wrong for him to be a trumpet blower or something...

The paintjob looks nice but I really can\'t figure out what the sculpt is supposed to represent ???

As the original owner of that mini I\'ll give my interpretation...

I think that the Dwarf Lord is leading a(n) heroic charge into battle - fist leading the way and calling out to his army to follow him into the fray.

I\'d had this mini for so many years but could never strat painting it - I\'d pick it up and think what I\'d do but never decide so I ended up passing it on through ME11. And I\'m glad I did - it\'s nice to see it with some colours, it looks so different.

Definitely go with a dark wash on the hair/beard (washes tend to gather in the recesses to provise shading whereas glazes coat an area to change the tone ...I think). Looking good, as is the slayer (nice skin). Keep us posted

Thanks for the input Bill! that was what I was thinking too... he\'s bellowing \"charge\" upon a hill-cliff-edge-something.

I\'ll defenitly try a wash.

Update 19/3

Been busy with life in general but here\'s a little update on the slayer, have to digest the dwarf lord a bit more before posting something more on him.

I thought I was finnished with the slayer until I saw the photo on my computer... :( darn it! I missed a little rune on one of the axe\'s, it\'s supposed to be in gold. But other than that I\'m quite pleased with him - to be a tabletop mini...

just like a 150-200 models to go in the same fascion until I\' totally complete with my dwarf army :drunk:

Update 29/3

Hi all!

there\'s much going on at my workbench - beside the dwarf lord and the work on my Dwarf Army in general I have started on a idea I\'ve had in my head since I got a package from Bill/ME 11.

Amongst all the godies there was an old GW mini (I think), a dead hero or something and when I saw it I thought of a drawing/painting I had seen somewhere by a guy called Peter Bergting. He\'s done a lot of great drawings to the Swedish version of D&D - named Drakar och Demoner Trudvang - very northy dark moody, very John Bauer. So I thouhgt I must do this drawing I had in mind.

This is as far I\'ve got, initial testing of were the tree will go to get the right mood and doing the \"skeletons\" for the trolls. Any thoughts on wether the tree shall be as in the first or the second picture? I know the pictures are a bit dark but that\'s for thje purpose of to see how the light shall fall upon the scene, I\'m set on trying OSL on this one.

Another small update...

started with the first troll, the face/head. looks kind of \"naked\" now but he\'s gona have a lot of long hair and a beard.

this is actually my first attempt at doing something with greens - only used them to fill up cracks before this. I\'m kind of pleased so far, really wanna do more but I just got to wait or I\'ll most likely do some damage to what\'s already been done. I\'ll go to sleep instead..

ps. found a site of the artist who\'s done the drawing I got the idea from, couldn\'t find the actuall drawing though.

minor update

thanks Larre!

a minor update, done a bit more on torso and arms. this is so fun - hard to wait for the green stuff to set between the sessions. like someone has said, the hardest thing about doing a mini is paitience...

I\'ll bring another update later tonight... I hope.

I\'n gonna be honest with ya. the stomach looks really weird. it kind of... pops right out of the mini, you will have yo make bigger pants for that mini, other than that, most of it looks good :)

keep it up

Update 2/4

@Larre: yes the stomach looks a bit strange, I\'m gona correct it a bit, but I don\'t think it will look that weird when I\'m done \"dressing him up\" :D stookings and a latex top will look great...

seriously, he\'s gona be wearing some baggy clothes and the belly is meant to have broken some of the buttons on the \"jacket\".

Well here\'s the update on the trolls: been doing more on the first one, a foot and some more touching up on the right arm before atatching a staff and the hand. And while waiting for the green stuff to harden I started on the second troll.

and now for a small update on my Dwarf Lord - as I\'ve been busy sculpting I have not been doing so much. I\'m kind of stucked on the brown on how much I shall highlight and do shadows, any suggestions anyone??? not sure on wich colors to use, been using like GW vomit and vermin brown mixed in various ratios with VMC yellow ochre.

Dwarf is looking good but I think the hair and the grey cloak need more differentiation. Also, is that lipstick he\'s wearing? lol

That troll face is really nice - like some CGI creature, great sculpting going on with him

Orky Enough

Hey! long time no seen...

been a while since I updated my WIP-log, and the WIP\'s on it is stills WIP\'s :D

but as there are like 1-gazillion ideas that pop into my head all the time I sometimes have hard to push me to finnish them unless I have a goal, guess I\'m not alone on that point, so here I bring u another one:

I\'m doing my first Ork-thing ever, allways kind of liked them as they are weird and funny and as there is no end to what an ork can do to wehicles and machinery I just had to do something that\'s been cooking for a while, and I need all you ork lovers to help me out and comment...

is this \"orky\" enough? bare in mind that this is only a small part of the whole thing...

Bruuuummm bruumm dakka! Looks orky to me matey although the rivets are a bit neat. Maybe try making it so they aren\'t quite in an evenly spaced line but slightly offset. Like they\'ve been done by a grot
