yay stollen - got my first one last year. nice but it had peel in it. hate that stuff. and mosch - why are you asking us?
on a side note i have a finnish ex who had these \'sweets\'. they were like salty licourice. quite possibly the most disgusting thing i have ever tasted - you guys got them?

if by tar you mean consistancy - then no. they were just like normal lumps o\' licorice but saltier. i wasn\'t paying that much attention as i spat it out. she made me try it even though i don\'t like licorice anyway. evil woman!

And why wouldn\'t they taste good? Afterall you have three classic flavors together at last, salt, licorice and tar. Mmm, mmm good.

sorry - the sweet dodn\'t stay in my mouth for long enough i guess. the only flavours i got were a cocktail of horribleness!

Actually, the Werther\'s Original (or Werther\'s Echte, as they used to call it till a couple of years ago), has a nice little text on the back: In the year of 18something (?), Mr. something of the little town of Werther invented a new kind of creamy caramel bonbon... and so on... I always reckoned them to be a German \"thing\".
Stollen is great... goes as a Christmas-season specialty around here. Which, of course, means you can get it as soon as October...

In Norway you get lovely salty liquorice stuff in lots of varieties lol My favourite is IFA salt-pastiller, and Troll-Gott. They are lovely... it makes me so sad that they aren\'t available in England , but there is a weakling sort of salty herring liquorice sold in Ikea, it isn\'t nearly as strong, or indeed as tasty. There was also a sort called Pulver Padder, Powered Toads, that were in the shape of toads. it\'s worth going on holiday to Norway just for these sweets, honestly!
